Re: Parking Brake Link Spring

No worries! I put the brakes on with the new spring from NPD yesterday. It was a bit longer than the old broken spring. The the old spring may have contracted over time. Nonetheless, it fit together and I put the drum back on. I will let you know what happens.

Thanks again, Liberty

Parking Brake Link Spring

Hello All, Question on brakes for my 1965 F-100. The Drums are 11" with the shoe width 1 3/4". One of my parking brake link springs is broken and I wish to replace it when I do the brake job. The spring appears to be approximately 1 1/4" long and about 1" wide (oval shape). Altho...

Manual Transmission Fluid

Hello All, I have a 1965, F100, 352 V8, 4 Speed on the floor with the granny gear, 2 Wheel Drive. I am looking to change the manual trans oil. The trans is possibly a T98. So far, I have come-up with either Engine Oil SAE 50 (from the shop manual) or 80W 90 API-GL5 rated fluid, which I already used ...

Re: Rear Axle Seals and Gear Oil

Thank you, I will check the manual trans fluid. I also noticed the new seals are a little thicker than the old ones (5/16 old & 7/16 new). I guess they may indent some when they bottom out. Liberty

Re: Rear Axle Seals and Gear Oil

Thank you all for your help. I did pull the axle and pulled the seal from the shaft. One thing I thought was kind of interesting was before I pull the axle I ran the car while It was up on blocks in neutral. The drive shaft and one of the axles turned as if it was in gear, even though it was in neut...

Rear Axle Seals and Gear Oil

Greetings All, I have a 1965 F-100, 352 V8, with a 4 speed, granny gear, 9 inch rear. I have noticed oil leaking from the right rear drum. I pulled the drum and the brakes are soaked with oil. I guess the seal is bad. After a little research, I believe the part number is 51098 (National Oil Seal - a...

Re: Winch Wiring and Alternator

Thank you Leeroy and Toyz, I just have the dash Alt light, no meter. I will take a look at the three wire. I was leaning toward the one wire because I figured it was easier. So this conversation is good. I understand the old regulator will not be needed because it is now contained on the inside of t...

Re: Winch Wiring and Alternator

Good advice. Two questions. If I upgrade the alternator to say the 130 amp output, will any other parts in the electrical system have to be changed? And, is there a specific make and model alternator recommended (Motorcraft)? Thank you!

Winch Wiring and Alternator

Greetings, I am trying to figure out the possibility of placing a 9500 TS Superwinch winch on my 1965 F100, 352, 2WD, Custom Cab PU. My issue is amperage for the winch. The winch manufacturer recommends a minimum alternator of 60 AMPS. Although I have not measured the AMPS from the stock alternator ...

Is there a photo of where to drill the hole in the emergency latch? Also what keeps the emergency latch from moving?

Fuel Issue

Thank you for the advice! When I took the fuel line off the fuel pump (coming from the fuel tank), the gas was siphoning out quickly. I had to blow back into the line (to the tank) to stop the fuel from coming out. When I removed the line from the carb, there was some back pressure and gas flowed ou...

Fuel Issue

I had another NOS fuel pump so I replaced it to be sure. It ran strong for about 15 minutes and then the fuel level which I could see through the in-line filter was reduced to a trickle. I tried the jug test. The gas had a pretty strong flow when the line was removed from the carb. When the fuel lin...

Fuel Issue

Looks like the fuel issue is back on the table as my slick was on the back of a flat-bed tow truck today! With the replacement NOS fuel pump, the slick was back to normal for a couple of weeks and then it suddenly stalled (no gas moving in the line after the pump). I got it to run a bit but it was a...
