Re: Hello, again!

The intake is cast iron and the number 5 could be the letter S. It is hard to tell. All I know is that this is one strong running engine!

If this engine is from a '64 T Bird, too bad the rest of the car is not wrapped around it!

It appears that the casting number on the intake is: C45E9425A

Re: Hello, again!

Barnie,

That is my truck, with the exception being the tag on my rear end says it has a 3.73 ratio. Must have been changed sometime. Thanks for the info. What you found is the same as what I did.

Re: What have you done to your slick today??

Ice, Years ago I had a 1977 GMC 3/4 ton with a limited slip rear end, which acted like what you say posi traction does. It had clutches that would get sticky and chatter is you did not change the oil as recommended or use an oil additive for it. That truck would get you in trouble on a snow covered ...

Re: What have you done to your slick today??

Changed the right axle flange gasket then removed the rear cover of the third member to change the oil and found that someone had welded the spider gears together. Arrrrrrrgh! Now I know why the truck was acting like the rear was posi traction. Well, one of the previous owners lived in Flagstaff and...

Re: What have you done to your slick today??

Yesterday, I replaced the carrier bearing and got to drive "Old Yeller" for the first time last night. What a beast! Some guys like to lower their Slicks down into the weeds, which is fine, but I prefer having a truck that I can haul things in. Today I will change the rear end oil, replace...

Old Yellar

Well, I am getting back into the swing of things lately. Sunday, we bought this 1965 F250 Custom Cab that I believe is a Camper Special. It has a V-8 with a 4 barrel carb and 4 speed tranny. I got to drive it last night after replacing the battery and carrier bearing. It is a beast! Today I will gre...

Re: Hello, again!

This windshield does have the aluminum trim around it and the front bumper is chrome. As far as the engine, I know the 352 engines in the '65s had a 2 barrel carb, but this engine has a 4 barrel. So, either the 352 has been modified, or the engine was replaced somewhere along the line. I am hoping t...

Re: Hello, again!

Thanks BP & BT! I really like these colors and will repaint it the same. The CC trim may go since I am missing many pieces, but may leave them if I can find the missing ones for a reasonable price. The steering wheel needs some love, but is salvageable, I hope! The side rail panels will be going...

Hello, again!

Hi All, Well, my lovely young bride of 39 years and I are heading out tomorrow morning to buy a Slick. It has been a while since we sold "Dumpy" and we both have missed having a Slick to work on and drive. The one we are buying is a '65 F250 CC with a 352 and 4 speed tranny. There are two ...
