Re: '61 Uni restoration

Body and paint are the things I'm most comfortable with as well, but most likely going to farm out what's left to a shop in town...too messy to do in my home garage and I am running out of time and getting antsy on getting my truck done! I look forward to seeing how it all comes out! Yeah, it was g...

Re: '61 Uni restoration

I hope so. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It sure was a major decision to have someone else do the Body and Paint for me, since that was my specialty. So hopefully this will be a good decision ... time will tell. Also, I'll keep posting updates here. :D

Re: '61 Uni restoration

Well, I'm back at it again. I finally decided, though, that I was making little progress on my own and I should have a shop do the Body, Paint, including removing the body. Here's what's happened so far: I transported "Big Red" over to the shop on December 2nd. http://olliesshop.smugmug.co...

Re: Is your Slick a DD?

Nope ... I have a ton of work to do to get "Big Red" back on the road again. Some day though, and I'd sure like it to be as close to a DD as possible, at least when the weather's nice. I'm retired though, so it would be just for errands around town, Cruises or some long trips. :)

Re: Chicks Dig Slicks

Nice !!!

I wish my wife liked mine. But it might be that right now it looks like a typical truck in restoration. Hopefully when it's done I'll be lucky to host a Bride and Bridesmaids ... maybe for my Daughter's wedding (who's now 17).

All the best !!!

Re: '61 Uni restoration

that's what I would do, I think a rubber plug would let too much water into the the cowl section Cool, thanks ... I also have to fill the holes I cut in the dash for the radio and the door access panels (where I put the speakers). I'm also going to be doing so much patch panel welding on the truck ...

'61 Uni restoration

I figured I'd start a new thread for my '61 Uni restoration. Hopefully this is the first post of many, till it's done. To sum it up the status right now, I've pulled off the front clip, restored the outside of the engine and trans, recovered the seat and now I am working on making the underside and ...

Re: I'm back ... again after a looong hiatus for a house pro

I hope it works well. It really came down to Rust Encapsulator vs. POR-15 and I did a reasonable amount of research on both and decided on the Converter and Encapsulator. The Eastwood folks said to make sure all the rusty scale was removed first, though ... that's why I'm sandblasting. My truck will...
