Thanks guys for some very good ideas. These are the fresh air vents down by the kick panels. The gaskets on the moving parts are both in fairly good shape so I won't have to mess with them. I just needed ideas about had to seal the vents to the panels when I put them back in.

Air vent question

Does the air vent need a gasket? I removed my air vents from inside the cab on my '64 to repaint them. I found old gasket material ( or sealant, not sure) and surface rust. I could probably make one out of gasket material or cork or just use form-a- gasket. Anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Alf

Same with mine. It only smells of gas when I fill it. I should probably replace the hose. Its the original one that came with the truck. The seat fits ok, too.

I was about to purchase the LMC rubber kit. I would hate to fight with it like some have.

Also some good hints too.

Thanks all,
Ditto. I must have missed the tip on using the drill bit to align the doors. Does someone have a link to that?

Trust me on this. The "correct" color for the the engine and air cleaner is black and the valve cover should be Ford Red (it's almost an orange). http://i817.photobucket.com/albums/zz96/Gerald43/Little%20Red%20-%201964%20F100%20Short%20Bed/OilBathACConvertedtoPaperElement.jpg The truck is...

:hello: Welcome mrgoob! Not clear on the scratch guards; my '64 custom cab does not have them. Were they an option back then? If your '64 custom cab came with side moldings, you automatically got the script on door. If you '64 custom cab did not have side moldings, it came with the chrome scratch g...

Welcome! Thanks for sharing your clean truck. Each year truck has its own special character which makes this era so interesting. Is it possible to take a picture of the tail gate area. Some early 64's use the slim one piece integral tail light lens with chromed plastic bezel not the larger two piece...
