Re: anyone UPDATE STOCK 65 SUSPENSION WITH AFTERMARKET ONE?
oh and i guess theres the volare/5th ave but some parts are getting hard to find... 03-10 Crown Vic is low on my list because it being 5" wider than the stock front it requires you to usehigh offset fwd type wheels at least 16s and limits your wheel choice. i'm a wheel whore. i have actually ch...

Re: anyone UPDATE STOCK 65 SUSPENSION WITH AFTERMARKET ONE?
yep as above lots of options.. my personal favs are 1) Jaguar XJ of course since thats what i do. i've actually been waiting for a local guy to bring me a 66 to do jag swap in(possibly bagged). i do jag swaps installed for about what one of those bolt in kits cost....... 2) Industrial Chassis Dakota...

Re: Am I the only one having problems with replacement items
Well stated, Bruce! Wonder what the difference between the 245.00 rack and the " double the price" one is? Next question; with the known "fatigue" rate of the Jag rack, albeit " not a suspension part", is the "half price" one good enough, and for how long? ha...

Re: Am I the only one having problems with replacement items
coming from a retail management and parts sales background i can tell you it's becoming NLA from low volume sales demand. have you noticed how NONE of the parts houses stock stuff like they used to even 5 years ago? half the stuff you could walk in and pick up at any of them 5 years ago is now "...

Re: Am I the only one having problems with replacement items
sorry but you're not looking very hard. i can FULLY rebuild the jag front for about $700. most of the donors i've used didn't need nearly that much. $200-300 being typical and thats doing balljoint, control arm bushings, tie rods, etc(wear items that are probably gonna need replaced on most donor sus...

Re: Am I the only one having problems with replacement items
i would expect a $165 wheel bearing to be quality hahaha. or is it one of those the part is integral to it's housing so you buy the unit and it's 10 times what a bearing should cost. we were going to do lexus sc400 ifs in my neighbors 52 f1. all donors we found needed ball joints as they were 200k+ ...

Re: To Buy or not to Buy...
by the time you replace the floor pans and cab mounts and if needed the frame part of the mounts you will be up another couple hundred, not to mention time and welding supplys. theres varying quality on the replacement metal so you want to be sure to get them from a USA supplier like http://www.fla...

weird........ never had any of the above issues with afco. but have only used them in street apps and as we all know. we had problems out of some others at the shop but i've honestly forgot who they were from at this point.

Re: 66 F100 Four link Rear Suspension
look at AFFCO high on the list for coilovers. good products at reasonable prices. we used them at the shop. jay was my sales guy but he may only be commercial sales. really good about giving you a good starting figure for spring rate and open to exchanges with no issue should you need to swap them a...

Re: 66 F100 Four link Rear Suspension
why go 4 link if you aren't going with something that needs a large range of articulation?
i would consider "truck arm" set up before 4 link. but you can get what you're talking with an axle flip over the leafs and a small 2" C notch.

Re: coil-overs for 64 f100
race folks also tend to know where you can have it 4 corner weighed telling you what the weight load is at each wheel which can tell you where to start. i seem to remember mentioning to jay at affco i was considering 4 link and coilovers on my uni and he may have said shoot low and work up as needed...

Re: coil-overs for 64 f100
just guessing i'd shoot for somewhere between 375 and 425 so 400 might be a good starting point. i've dealt with AFFCO mostly on coilovers. jay i beleive is the sales guy i've worked with but he may only be commercial sales as my dealings with them was at the hot rod shop i worked for. ride tech has...

there were 2 unibody gassers at Steel in Motion in south carolina back in may. i nicely done light blue that wasn't that impressive on the track(i think it was technical problems). and a patina'd darker blue and white that was FAST. i never caught the later with the hood up but i heard it was either...
