Re: Throttle spring
You can also get a sticky throttle if you have gunk built up around the throttle plates. This will cause stickiness at idle. Clean with carb cleaner. Never had this problem with a slick, but there is also less buildup with the new gas formulations.

Re: LED shop lights
I saw an article on instructables.com (http://www.instructables.com/id/Inexpensive-Garage-Lights-From-LED-Strips/) that showed how to make your own led shop lists using standard parts. Saved a ton of money over just converting tubes. Very tempting even though I recently added a bunch more 8' floresc...

Re: Haulin' a load
I've taken detours on vacations a couple of times to chase slick parts. Once for a windshield in Iowa and once for a uncut dash in MI. The wife tolerates it. I really like the vintage camper. I've been keeping my eyes out for an Alaskan.

Re: Crazy question
But It would be interesting to see a FWD slick! I don't think its of any real value but we've certainly seen a lot of people who put a lot of effort in upgrades.

I've never tried this, but couldn't you have the water pump flange re-pressed to the correct location?

Re: Ignition lock cylinder issues
The lock cylinder has a semi-circular plate on the end of it, one side is flat. The pin hole releases a spring backed pin that allows the cylinder to be turned to the position where the plate and the receiver line up and allow it to slide in or out. My guess is that you have never really inserted it...

Re: Straight Sixin' '63
I've owned a lot of ford pickups over the years. From my '74 3/4 ton high boy on forward, they have all been able to get 16-17 MPG on the highway. Engine varied from 360/4spd/4wd, 300/4spd/2wd, 352/4spd/2wd... That is measured on long trips with just stops for gas, food, or lodging. The most importa...

MPG depends on a lot of factors. I'd expect the O/D to make the most difference on the highway. If your commute is mostly city, you're on the low end for any vehicle.

Re: '66 F250 Front Drum Brakes
You can covert over to disk brakes by scavenging the parts from any 68-79 F250 and retain the wheel pattern. I have not done this on a 250 but am working on the 3rd F100 conversion. My preference is to swap out everything complete radius arms and all. This is also the opportunity to add power steeri...

Really impressed! My initial thoughts at the beginning of the video was it looked ready to drive onto the trailer, then the interior shots explained why not. God speed on your move.

I've always had good luck using penetrating oil to free up the hood hinges. Just spray and work back and forth a while.

Re: my 66 f100
For you backup lights, you need to have a switched power source going to one wire on the switch, the other connection would go to the positive connection in the backup lights. For the neutral safety switch, you take the starter switch to solenoid wire and route that to one terminal and the other ter...

Re: 351W in a 65 F100
There are lots of ways to do the disk brake swap. I've always just moved the complete ibeam and spring setup over complete. That way you will never have to worry about the differences in king pins.

Re: Pulling my 352
As for holding your valves: I'd make an adapter from a spark plug to an air fitting and just hook your compressor to it. You could also put cotton rope into the cylinder and move it to the top of the stroke to hold the valves in place.

Hi Grump - good talking to you yesterday. You may want to have your doors mounted for another reference point. As you mentioned these trucks were not 3/16" gapped from the factory. You might be able to adjust things a little to make the overall fit better.

Not sure about what is exactly right. I've used 55-57 thunderbird antennas because they match the curve and cost less that what the F100 suppliers charge.
