Re: PFM's 65 Crew Cab F250
My check engine light is intergrated into my dakota digital gauge. I can't find a pic with the light on but it shows an engine icon between the Fuel and Temp gauges along with blinkers,hi beam and a couple more. Since I have a computer controlled tranny the OD light is to the right of the gauge. Th...

Re: PFM's 65 Crew Cab F250
Chris, what did you do for a Check engine light? If you talked about it I missed it. I saw where you are running a single exhaust for now. Where are you exiting it at? Out the back, in front or behind a wheel? Lastly, Like you I have a bronco II tank. Think this tank keeps us from using a standard, ...

Re: 5.0 EFI/HO swap questions - sucess, but more to do!
I gave in and had the truck towed to a local hot rod shop a couple of friends recomended. Wasn't cheap but I wasn't getting anywhere with it, and they got it running. Turns out I had two problems preventing it from starting. 1. Fuel pump wired in reverse. 2. igntion switch wired incorrectly. There w...

Re: Securing children's car seats in a classic truck.
The only suitable position in your truck is the center of the bench with the center lap belt. Use a seat forward facing with a harness incorporated into the seat correctly rated for the size of your child. The center lap belt is used to secure the back of the child seat to the truck bench seat. You...

Re: Securing children's car seats in a classic truck.
I know the car seat I have for my daughter in my 65 that is secured with just a lap belt is more secure than the one in my 97 ranger that is secured with the factory belt. I can get the car seat slot tighter with the lap belt only!! Just my 2 cents. I agree with most of what has been said. I'll mou...

Securing children's car seats in a classic truck.
My 3 year old boy has taken an interest in my 71. The truck has lap belts, which will allow the child seat to mount in the truck, but his mother says he can't ride in it unless I come up with a way to run the mounting belt that in newer cars attaches to the roof or package shelf. My Dad's Colorado h...

Re: 5.0 EFI/HO swap questions
Randyr, I need to make a check engine light to install in the dash. I added a ground, as one time the starter solenoid acted like it wasn't grounding well. Still only turns over. I'm getting no spark, but my voltmeter shows voltage at and coming out of the TFI module. Maybe a bad plug wire from dist...

Re: Rant. New salvage yards
Had a somewhat similar thing happen here at the local U-Auto-Pullit. 64 Galaxie on the lot with a nice grill. Didn't need it, wanted it to hang on the wall. Asked at the window how much? $35. Cool. Had minimal tools with me, and the grill was almost as difficult to get off as a slick grill. Two and...

Re: 5.0 EFI/HO swap questions
been busy so haven't had time to update lately. Not been able to get it started. I can get it to turn over, but not fire. I replaced the Coil (not sure the old one was bad though), the TFI module on my junkyard distributor (old one looked like crap), and then finally, tried a new rebuilt distributor...

Re: 5.0 EFI/HO swap questions
I have the TFI that mounts to the distributor. 62, that is in my list of EFI sites, but thanks for rmeinding me, it's a good site. Between weather, kids, and relatives visiting haven't had many good days to play with it. Did have a couple hours last week, but ran the battery down try to start it. Tu...

Re: In need of a trailer hitch.
I gave my dad a spare generic step bumper off a dent side truck I had, as his 91 Silverado's chrome step bumper had rusted to the point of uselessness. He said he had to drill a couple holes but bolted up pretty easy after that.ezernut9mm wrote:a quick hint. chevys up to 87 have the same frame width.

Re: 5.0 EFI/HO swap questions
A simple test to verify what you probably already know would be to hook a temporary jumper from the battery + to coil +, then attempt to start. Be aware that if this results in engine start, you will need to remove this jumper to "kill" the engine! Don't know why we didn't try that, as it...

Re: 5.0 EFI/HO swap questions
Tried to start today, but no go. Again this is on my non-slick 71 F100. I am using the RJM harness. Their universal (cheaper) harness. http://96.0.50.30/harness_manual-K.pdf Measuring at the ignition coil, I get 12v on the ohm meter with key in ON position. I can hear the fuel pump run for a few sec...

Re: 5.0 EFI/HO swap questions
my understanding that AOD's from trucks and Crown Vics have a longer arm on the transmission than those that are cable/floor sift cars like mustangs. Here is a picture of the AOD's arm versus the arm that on my C6 that worked with the column. I ended up using the Lokar column adapter linked to earl...

Re: Anyone try making their own underhood information sticke
Cant you buy an oem or repop? You could get a a/c delete 5.0 Mustang. What did you do about the waterpump rotation? I would have left the compressor and let it freewheel myself, less work if you or someone else ever wants to put a/c back in. I have deleted the smog pump as well. Ford probably didn'...

Re: Anyone try making their own underhood information sticke
I think if you edited the factory sticker graphic you could get a very nice almost factory looking sticker. the only question would be if there is any copyright infringment. On one sticker though i would not worry about it. I thought I'd try and do something that looked like it could be "facto...

Anyone try making their own underhood information stickers?
I am trying to wrap up a 5.0 swap into my non-slick 71. I have eliminated the smog pump, and the A/C. Hope to add the A/C back in the spring. My serpentine belt routing will have to be revised as a result, and got to thinking it my be nice to have the routing of the belt posted underhood somewhere. ...

Re: 5.0 EFI/HO swap questions
Yeah, spacing it out from the trans should help. As we've discussed elsewhere, I made a little extension bracket out of a piece of 1" u-channel to kinda simulate the shifter lever on the side of my cruiseomatic trans. Of course, it's still in development and untested but here are some of the p...

Re: 5.0 EFI/HO swap questions
My AOD was from a floor shift car, a T-Bird. I bought the lokar kit and also made my own arm to try and bolt on. However, it appears on my truck that the bellcrank (or whatever that piece is called that sticks out of the transmission) needs to be longer, not the arm itself. I am going to try and fab...
