Looking good !!!

I was wondering if anyone knows whether the Hood Spears are suppose to be just Chrome or Painted? I've seen it both ways and was wondering what was stock. Thank you :D

Re: Big Betty leaves the nest

What a difficult decision :( I hope I never have to make the same choice, but in time we might have to. We have a '57 T-Bird, which my Dad bought new and helped design and Big Red, our '61 F250 Uni that my Grandpa bought new too. I'm just hoping my daughter will marry someone who appreciates them.

Re: LMC-Three years later

I haven't heard may people that like LMC. I like to go with Tom when I can or NPD, which is close to my house. I'm debating on what to do with my chrome, which is the hood emblems, interior and door parts (no bumpers or grille). I have a great chromer around town, that does beautiful chrome, but the...

Wow ... nice truck. It's not for me, though, since I prefer stock. But yeah, I bet that build was way more that $48k.

Re: '61 Uni restoration

Very cool you have your grandfathers truck. Are you going to stick with red or go back original on the color? Nice detail on the engine. I'm planning on sticking with Red. It probably will be 1967 Ford Candy Apple Red , which my friend has on his Mustang and is NON-metallic. I thought long and hard...

Hopefully it will be running perfect soon.

Re: Best Brand and place to buy new stock '61 Uni tires?

6.50-16 was a popular OEM application for the F250 unis with tubeless tires. Most truck tire shops will be familiar with the size, and can provide a selection of brands and tread designs for the vintage look. Beware of being sold 6.50-16 passenger tires; your application is load range "C"...

Re: '61 Uni restoration

Thanks :D It sure looks like I picked a good shop for the body and paint. I could have done the fab and paint work myself (although not as well) but I never could get cranking on it. Now the rust repair and paint will hopefully be done in the Springtime, ready for me to put everything back together....

Re: Best Brand and place to buy new stock '61 Uni tires?

Well it looks like I was using the wrong size for the tire ... . Since the truck was at the shop, I ended up researching the size, but when I finally remembered to look at the tires today they said 6.50-16LT. I haven't been able to find tires using that tire size yet, but I'm still looking. I...

Here's some possibilities. Scroll down... There's five pages! http://www.cokertire.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?limit=48&q=215+75r15+blackwall I'm thinking of using these, though rim-width may be a problem. http://www.cokertire.com/sta-super-transport.html For $134 a piece, it's a good deal ...

Best Brand and place to buy new stock '61 Uni tires?

I've been looking on the site, as well as the web, for a good Brand of tire and a Place to buy them, but I've been unsuccessful. I've found Vintage tires, but they seems to all be whitewall or red-line tires (Coker). Also, current (non-vintage) tires don't have the bias-ply look, which I think I wan...

Re: This is why some people shy from E-Bay

I would have a very hard time buying a vehicle on eBay. I've bought and sold a lot on eBay, but I've never purchased anything over $200, since the risk is too high.

Re: engine preference??

Well it looks like my 1st choice of the 223 is running last in the votes. I like that it's bulletproof, very smooth and always started. Although, when my truck was running with the 223 (and 4.88 rear end) I always got around 10 mpg. With the gearing, especially in the stump-puller 1st gear (4 spd), ...
