Re: 64 F-100 lower it lift it or leave it ???

If its a 2wd, I like em lower. But 4 wheelers I actually prefer at stock height, not jacked up. As others have said, it depends on whether you have a short bed or long bed, as well as what kind of wheels/tires you want to run. The 'look' is all part of a complete package. https://lh6.googleus...

Re: some worry about gas tank explosions

I agree with everything said above. I've been running my '64 with the original in-cab tank for years. I don't feel its unsafe and there's nothing like being able to hear gas sloshing around as you go around a corner.

To answer some questions: Yes, I moved the wheel centerline forward 1.25" to better position the wheels in the fender opening. It really makes all the difference in the looks and is not hard to do while you're rigging up the crossmember. Randy, spacing out the wheels half an inch or so wouldn't...

Hey Merc Uni!

I'm so glad you finished the swap and am enjoying it! Now I have a question for YOU  : What did you do about the power steering? Did you rig up the Jag pump or do something else?

Congratulations. Its a great swap. Cheers-

Matt

PS: Got any pics?

Yep, 8:1:1 with the reducer works just as well. Its a pretty difficult paint to screw up :)

Hey Big Mike,

I've sprayed the blitz black before. Its really good paint for what it is. Very durable and has a nice sheen. I would use the Valspar hardener if you can get it. 1:10 ratio does the trick.

The engine bay resto is looking killer!

A Mustang T5 would work well, provided you don't hammer on it all the time. If you're talking real performance, maybe a Tremec TKO then?

I now own an F100 and a Chevelle. Every time I switch from driving one vehicle for a while, I fall back in love with that vehicle. In my opinion, both are well made, both have their own issues, but both make me love to drive em!

Weeeeell, it's been just about a year since the Jag front end went under the truck. Several people have been PMing me with questions and such, so I thought I would add some notes to this thread to keep all the info consolidated. ___ Thoughts: The shock mounts have held up great so far. I've driven t...

NEW: American Autowire kit for '61-66 F100

BAMMMMM! I just went on American Autowire's website looking for something else and right on their front page they were introducing the new kit in their 'Classic Update' lineup. If only this kit was available two years ago, I would've definitely gone this route on my '64. I rewired my Chevelle with t...

I've done it both ways, the high route and the low route. There's no question American Autowire produces what is probably the best kits out there for rewiring a vehicle. They are very complete and the diagrams are second to none. On the other hand, I've always done a rewire using a bare bones wiring...

One time I had the same exact problem on my '64. After much examination and frustration, I finally decided to replace the shoes as a last resort. This time I bought NAPA premium shoes. Instantly solved the problem.

Series II and III are identical besides some models that had bigger brake options. But for all intents and purposes, both are interchangeable.

Series I is the one you definitely don't want.

Nice videos man! Looking forward to seeing how you go about swapping it in. You've got a bit more doin' than I did since you're working on a '65. But with the amount of video you're shooting, it'll be a really comprehensive guide when done.

By the way that donor looks to be in great shape.
