Re: Unequal distribution.

Sorry about the rant - I just really enjoyed seeing these trucks everywhere. My wife was a little tired of me calling them out each time I saw one. It was my first real visit to Georgia and it was bittersweet. We dropped my 23 year old daughter off for an 11 month mission trip starting in India and ...

Unequal distribution.

Hey I'm thinking we need a government program to redistribute old trucks. I've been in Georgia the past few days and I've seen more slick, bump and dent "drivers" here in 3 days than the nearly 2 years I've owned my truck in Minnesota. I'm going to listen to debate on Sunday and if Hillary...

Opinions on this 428

I saw this on the Facebook FE site today and thought I would ask this group what their thoughts are. I'd be putting it in my 66 F250 with a 4sp, so I know I would need a new externally balanced flywheel. Also need to swap the 4wd oil pan, etc. I asked where the machining was done, and he said it was...

Re: 66 F250 project

I swapped the steering column bracket from my 66 std column to my 78 tilt column this weekend. I was planing to use the original bracket from the 78, but noticed when I mounted it up to measure for spacers that the slots on the newer column were slightly wider than the original, making the bolts sit...

Here are a few pics of the shift linkage. Overall linkage with a slight bend that I'm not sure is "factory". https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzgyheXmyIFLc29LY05EbVZmeHc Trans end. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzgyheXmyIFLeGhDMlVPWUZ0Nlk Column end. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0...

Re: 66 F250 project

Sorry for the misdirection on the bolt with the serrated washer. I was assuming it was from under the hood because that's what is mostly torn down. I found these as I was working tonight. That makes more sense, but now I need to find the 4 missing bolts for my driver's side door. Not overly concerne...

Re: Looking for someone with a 65 or 66 with original C-6 tr

Hi Michelle, I have a 390 with a C6 from a 69 truck sitting in my garage. I also have the C6 linkages and a 78 auto column if you want me to take measurements or photos of anything. I decided to stick with my NP435 for now, but may swap the C6 in at some point. Let me know if I can help. Regards, Co...

Re: 66 F250 project

I think the larger bolt is a typical fender bolt. The smaller ones might have been used around the grill/valence. The fender bolts are 5/16 and some of the valence bolts are 1/4. Hey Bruce, The fender bolts are different - they have a much smaller flange than this one. I believe there are only two ...

Status update and a question.

I'm a little embarrassed that I haven't updated my project since July... Seems like I've been working hard at it, but the incremental progress seems a little slow when you're working on hidden rust. The past few days I've made good progress on getting my front suspension back in place. I was debatin...

Re: Backup Lens ID

They were on a 66 Camper Special that I bought as a parts truck. I've seen a few examples of other 65-66 trucks with the same lights, but don't think they were factory install, but could be wrong.

Re: Backup Lens ID

I have a pair of backup lights on my 66 spare parts truck that I may not use.

Here's what they look like.

Re: Hydroboost

Sorry about the snake - someone thought they saw one in the original photo (brake lines?) so I thought I'd better add one. He must have deleted his post before I added the snake, I don't see it anymore.

Re: 66 F250 project

I installed one in my daughter's mustang several years ago and has done well. I have one to be installed in my pickup in the next few days.

Great - look forward to hear how you like it in your truck.

Re: 66 F250 project

Are you doing a 352 or 390? I'm new to FEs. I'd enjoy finding a 390 but fear the price tag. I'd have to learn too how to identify it from a 360. Do you have experience putting headers on an FE? Local machinist warned it's a pain, with the vertical bolts. Mine is a 352, but I have a 390 that I'll re...

Re: 352 cam selection

I went with the Comp Cams 255DEH cam for my 352 - it's pretty mild with .469/.495 lift. I'm going with a 4bbl intake and carb with long tube headers (unless someone has a set of Sanderson FF427s that they want to send me). I wanted to maintain low end torque and as much economy as possible. Everyone...

Re: 66 F250 project

Corey, did you find out pricing info for cylinder head work? I'd like to know the going rate too. Do you plan to get hardened valve seats? Is there any special machining needed for a hotter than stock cam? I'm considering a 265 Dual Energy from Comp Cams. They say it works with stock exhaust, but I...

Re: Hydroboost

GM was not the only one that used hydroboost, some mid seventies T-birds & Lincolns used hydroboost, and some of the newer Mustangs use hydroboost too. James Thanks James, That's true, but some of the earlier versions had a spring loaded accumulator rather than a nitrogen gas based unit. I opte...

Hydroboost

Has anyone done a hydroboost install on a slick? I've been reading quite a bit about it, and I'm going to give it a shot. I'm not sure I like the looks of the big GM master cylinder that came with it, but at least the ports are on the correct side. I may look for the older style MC I was able to cut...

Re: 66 F250 project

Making some progress on the floors and driver's side door pillar. I pieced in the cowl/kick panel patch as one piece, which ended up working out ok. Here's are the cuts I made to eliminate the rust: cut_DS_pillar.jpg The donor puzzle piece: IMG_1658.JPG Here's the final result: IMG_1758.JPG Still ne...
