Hi and welcome to the group. Yes, the USAF (mostly) had stepside slicks by the thousands. They were used primarily as flight line trucks and for the Military Police as patrol vehicles. I know because I grew up on Air Force bases and remember seeing them everywhere. As I recall, most of them were V-8...

Riesel? Have you been home lately? There is a freakin' 6 lane highway going right thru the heart of your little town. I miss the old German (I think) yard sale/ curio shop on the east side of Hwy 6 as you came from Waco going to Marlin. It closed down. I guess those folks finally got so old they cou...

Welcome to the group

When you get around to putting on sway bars, give me a shout and I'll show you how to put front ones on a straight axle.
The rear bar is a no brainer.
Real men drive straight axles, right phRed? ROTFLMAO

kick down

Jearame. Welcome home my friend. If you want to keep the shifter you have, Lokar has a cable kickdown that is easy to install and works very well indeed. When you come back to Houston I'll show you mine and tell you how to adjust it. We all appreciate what you and your buddies are doing for America ...

Unless you're using the Mustang GT heads with the extra bolt holes, FE motors are all the same.
Just tell them the application and they will fit.

Gary is a great guy.
You WILL NOT be disappointed in the fit, finish and quality of those headers. And when all the Heddman's and other bargain tubes have all rusted thru, you'll be brushing your teeth in that pretty ceramic finish.

I did an article for Classic trucks with the Mustang tank and the filler in the bed and I'm really happy with the results. But from time to time on eBay the same guy that sells the Mustang tank sells a replacement for a mid fifties Ford with the same basic dimensions as mine but with the filler neck...

Dammit. This is the second try to post a message. I measured Nadine and the distance is the same as Jim's '57....~32.5" So I got my parts book out to check things just to see what's going on and there are over 40 different axles listed for the straight axle trucks. Most are for the bigger truck...

front straight axles

Be sure to double check the spring mounting boss spacing on the two different axles. I can't remember, but I think the 67-60 springs are closer together than the 62-64's. Also, take a look at the mounting hole for the lower shock absorber bracket to see if there is a spacing difference there too. Ma...

90% of your stopping is on the front. Disks are your best choice for the buck.
Unless you're racing road courses, 4-wheel disks are a serious waste of money.
Get the front disks. Trust us on this one.

Guys. For about the same amount of money, you can get the ECI disk brake setup for your truck. Look 'em up on the net. They sell the brackets seperately so you can scrounge/ buy your calipers and rotors locally. I have the parts list if you're interested in getting the brackets only, and I have phot...

Depends on the level of the engine build, but I'd keep the average FE to about 5000 rpms. They seem to run out of steam about that time so there isn't any reason to twist them any tighter. Nadine has a pretty well built tri-power and I can get about 5500 without problems (on high test gas with a boo...
