Re: '64 Cab rust repair - part sources?
First of all welcome aboard from Michigan! Also, I agree with Lou on Flashback100's, definitely your first choice. I ended up replacing those parts, and more, on my '61 Uni. Here's a link to a bunch of pictures of the body repair being done, by the shop I'm working with, that I hope will come in han...

Re: '61 Uni restoration
I bought the paint this week. PPG Basecoat (Vermillion Red), Clear, Primer and Sealer. So hopefully they'll be starting again soon. The next step is to weld in the new bed floor and paint the underside of the body. Still lots of work to go ...

Re: Glow in the Dark Dash Knobs
Nice!
I have to figure out what to do with my dash knobs too, since the inserts are all missing.

I love our I-6's as well. My 223 has been very reliable and idled very smooth. I'm excited to get it back in the truck in the next few months after I get my truck back from body and paint.
All the best!

Re: King Pin Replacement ??
I would pull the axle, have a shop take the pins out and install new bushings and fit them for the new pins and install. I thought I might loose, a hand or finger driving out the old pins... It was scary .. now if you have a press..... I had a frozen king pin on my 61, which made it almost impossib...

Re: 300 won't start, I am totally confused :)
Congrats!
I'm expecting to have some problems when I put my 223 in the newly restored body, which hopefully will be in the next few months. It ran purrfectly when I took it out, but it's been a while.

Re: Beating a dead horse...
I recently had a bad whistle on my 312 Y-Block with a 4bbl Holley. I could make it go away by covering the vent tube with my finger ... kinda similar. I ended up fixing the whistle by tightening down the mounting nuts on the studs to about 15 ft-lbs and it magically went away. I hope it could be tha...

Re: what coating to use on exhaust manifold
Without going into detail, I second "can't use wife's oven" sentiment. Guess it's all part of the overall "pick your battles" strategy around here. I also have been pleased with the results from Eastwood's spray-on "cast iron" finish. Haven't checked availability in ye...

Re: What have you done to your slick today??
Just lots of waiting for the body/paint shop to get done and pondering about what it will take to get it back on the road once it's back in my garage. So many more parts to order and things to learn.

I call my truck "Big Red". I can't remember exactly why, other than when I repainted it in 1979 I changed the color to red and it was big compared to the other vehicles I had at the time. It's going to get repainted Red again soon.

Re: Saturday Lot S54 1965 Ford F100 Pickup
i am surprised people are spending big money to restore these trucks. there is barely any profit in cars that have a huge following like chevelles and cameros. anyone that would spend 50k to restore and then sell one of these trucks has got to know they are gonna go into the red. the budget for a r...

Re: '61 Uni restoration
Thanks. I'm really pleased with how they came out. The shop does a ton of power coating as a main part of their business. I'm trying to get as much as I can powder coated, since they do such a good job and it's so much more durable than paint.

Re: '61 Uni restoration
I just picked up most of the powder coated white parts. I think the last white parts will be the 4 wheels plus the spare. Also, the truck is getting close to laying on the primer. I'll post pictures as I get them. :D http://olliesshop.smugmug.com/Trucks/2013-2014-Big-Red-at-Shop/i-X9wKJgr/0/M/HPIM29...
