Re: new members wanting to join
I don't know how I ever did restoration/modification before the web and forums. Every vehicle I restify leads me to join at least one forum. I've been on Oldsmobile, Chebby Truck, AMC, Ford Truck, Racing, H.A.M.B., and Welding forums and was gleaned TONS of good info from all. A great example is the...

Re: Bed floor repair.... HELP!
I have only found patch panels for the floors of these trucks and lining up and welding a bunch of patch panels would be a nightmare. Someone on here installed an entire floor cut out of a later model. A couple of us, went down to the local steel supplier and bought a sheet of tread plate. FYI, a st...

Re: flipped rear
...Or a previous owner had them re arched to drop the rear. Mine are pretty straight at ride height after having them re arched for about a 2.5" drop. True, never considered DE-arching original springs. I could drop my front some more with springs but the oil pan would hit the rack and pinion ...

Re: flipped rear
Straight across (unloaded truck) means they are probably shot. However, the good news is that they can be re-arched at a spring shop.

Re: flipped rear
Sully that is a killer stance. Pretty much where I wanna go with. Did you make the notch yourself? Greg is no limit the only place to get the springs? There is a shop called inline suspension here in Lincoln that I was gonna check with to see if I could get them to look at it. Thanks for your help!...

Re: powder coated Chrome grill...
I do some powdercoating. Beware: the chrome-like powder-coating, abraided in the least (even with terry cloth) will begine to dull down to a grey. It looks best right from the oven and goes downhill from there UNLESS you clear coat it right away. I have done some near-chrome with clear poedercoating...

Re: Toyota steering boxes
Using a double Jointed coupler will solve any alignment issues. I purchased one thru Flaming River, call them, they'll hook you up. Yep, I needed the double u-joint as well. Be aware that it's like $189 for that joint though. It's one othe expenses that makes the Toyota setup almost as expensive as...

Re: 64 short bed
I did the same floor, but I had the metal company make it all in one piece and notched out for the wheel wells. It was a pain to get in, and it took two of us to install it. but it will outlive me. Yours came out nice. I'm glad someone else did the same thing. I was kind of ashamed that I did it, ca...

Water issues
Getting water leaking into the foot well of the 64. Seems to be coming from the inner door panel. I can see water trails down the bottom of the door after a hard rain and there seems to be a pretty significant amount of water. I always figured the water in these doors would be more likely to rinn do...

Re: flipping front axle
Front axle flip is a 4"-5" drop. A rear axle flip is a 6"+ drop. On mine, a front and rear axle flip made the rear a little lower than the front, so I bought 2" drop springs for the front as well. Then I had pan clearance issues. Switched the second leaf (longest non-main spring)...

Re: 61-64 common questions and modifications
No Limit has a pretty nice R&P setup for the 61-64 Slick. After playing around with the Toyota conversion and then trying to engineer/source my own R&P steering (epic fail) I broke down and ordered the No Limit Engineering kit. Other than blowing out the seals with my Ford PS pump (Saginaw/...

How do you wire that? I was thinking about it but the coil in the lighter is a resistor.

Nah, she just graduated. Got the keys on the last week of school. She's going to college in the fall and she already has a parking pass for the garage corner spot on campus. Since her housing is right across the parking lot from all of her classes, she won't even have to drive to school during the w...
