Re: 351w pulley problems reviseted
Can you add a 1/8" spacer? There are spacers made for aligning water pump pulleys.

Re: Manual Transmission Upgrade -- Seeking Input
What is the special oil? World class units use ATF. The others use gear oil. Most gear oils now have limited slip additive. Is it just an oil without that?

Re: unique 61 uni.
There is at least some BS in the ad. The Supercharged 312 thunderbird engine base is the most apparent incorrect statement. Wrong valve covers, wrong water pump pulley, wrong crank damper, wrong thermostat housing, wrong exhaust manifolds, the intake looks like a small port variant - 1956 or earlier...

Re: Ford Y block Fail Stant safe thermostat, do they exist?
Y-block use the same thermostat as Mopar. If there is a failsafe for those, then there is one for Y-Blocks.

Re: Photos without photobucket
Pictures can be posted directly on the Y-blocksforever forum. It's buggy, though; works for some and not for others.
I have nothing to do with running that forum so I have no idea if it is software or hardware related.

Re: Photobucket
I'm going to hold out for a while. I have so many pictures linked it will be a major pita to do it all again. Hopefully they will upset enough people and cause enough people to leave that they change their mind in the next couple months.

Re: Photobucket
I haven't had any notifications to pay anything. However, I was just on the photobucket site and something is up as the page was not loading properly. It took me a while to find my pics but I did and was able to add more and link them.
Maybe it is some glitch in the site coding.

Re: Antenna
It looks like that is a correct Ford antenna so I filed the notch. I got a '65-'68 Mustang antenna from Mustangs Unlimited, which is a few miles from my house, made in Taiwan, so it was less than $20 after tax. The mast itself seems the same with a different adapter, bezel, and nut, same thread size...

Re: Needing a y block rocker arm oil drip ear/spacer
The locking adjuster screws are the best ones to have. What do you mean they are way too short? Is that with or without the drip tray? The pushrods need to match the heads. '54-'55 and '60-'64 used the longer pushrods. '56-'59 used shorter pushrods. There is about 3/16" difference between the t...

Re: Needing a y block rocker arm oil drip ear/spacer
Don't worry too much about finding them. They are not a necessity. They were phased out early in Y development, and your '64 actually would not have had them. Performance wise, they can be a benefit because they tend to improve rocker geometry but that gets tricky because they also affect the rocker...

Re: Antenna
I can't tell you about FM. It worked fine for AM. The radio doesn't work now and the engine is too loud to hear it if it did work so I want to find a way to plug the hole without welding a filler plate and am thinking about finding another antenna to modify for that purpose. It is a later addition. ...

Antenna
The antenna I have installed has a locating tab. The hole has no notch for that tab. I saw in other antenna posts that the hole is drilled by the installer and it is not a factory stamped hole. So the question is, does this look like the correct antenna, with an incorrectly cut hole? It looks fine a...

Re: Master Cylinder Help
That is correct, the rod itself is not adjustable. However, it is mounted to the pedal with an eccentric bolt which provides the adjustment. Do you have the eccentric bolt?

Re: Master Cylinder Help
The pushrod is not typically replaced with the master cylinder. Did it work with the previous master cylinder? There are different length pushrods that will fit and perhaps it was shortened at one time. After 50 or 60 years, it's hard to know what has been done in the past. The pushrod is also adjus...

Re: Master Cylinder Help
I've never heard of placing anything between the pushrod and piston, so that rubber disk is probably not right. Bench bleeding was good. It is possible that the master cylinder is bad out of the box. Incorrect adjustment of drum brakes can make it seem as though the system is not working properly. I...

Re: 292 y block harmonic balancer washer...
I found two to measure. They do overlap the two outer holes slightly. OD is 1 3/4" for both. One is 5/16" thick. The other is 3/16" thick.

Re: 292 y block harmonic balancer washer...
If you found some with the right inner diameter and thickness, then they are probably the correct washers as they are not a standard sized washer that would happen to be laying around. I'll try to remember to look for one for measurements. I think the accessory pulleys would have been fastened by a ...

Re: 292 y block harmonic balancer washer...
You are mistaken. If it is a Y-Block, then the bolt is 9/16".
You can use a bolt or stud and nuts to hold the washer while you trim it to size with a grinder.

Re: 292 y block harmonic balancer washer...
Y-Blocks use a 9/16" bolt, which is pretty uncommon for the damper. The kit at oreilly or any other parts store will not have it - that is an error based on the ignorance of the parts guy. The washer is pretty thick. I can measure one tomorrow. A stack of washers might work. It would also be ea...
