Re: Are there any aftermarket hoods for a 65 F100

stswartz, I can relate (the same happened to me with my '63 F100 years ago) and I feel for ya. :( Luckily your incident didn't do more damage...I've seen hoods pop up and not only mess up the roof line but also break the windshield. You can also plan on needing new hood hinges..... :2cents: BarnieTrk

....and if it isn't properly cleaned prior to application, it will start to peel off (like yours is doing) and then chunks/peels will go down and plug up your oil passages and oil pump pickup screen..... not a good thing at all. I'd highly suggest you simply remove as much as you can, and do NOT re-...

Re: Pls Post: ANY & ALL Slicks with FoMoCo Padded Dash

Rich[/quote] Something you may not be old enough to know, but those padded dashes were required by law after a certain year as were seat belts. This all came about in about 1965 and 1966. I believe by law, in 1966 all trucks were required to have padded dashes by federal law. Before that law took af...

Re: Engine to Machine Shop, any guess what FE it is?

As soon as I get some time I'll take it to have the front pipe bent and let them install the exhaust, which I'm sure the neighbors will appreciate. All is GOOD, Lou! Do you plan to run the exhaust out to the rear bumper to the side & behind/in front of the rear tires or just dump the exhaust un...

Re: Radiator support cage nuts?

Best thing you can do is do away with those damn nuts and drill holes in the bottom of the support where you can put a socket up in there . Best of both worlds get more drainage in the bottom of the core support and no more problems with those things. Takes almost a 3/4 inch hole if I remember righ...

..... on the topic of fluid, but the manual says SAE50 is recommended. I've seen on other forums and on Novak transmissions that 80w90 is suitable. Is that what you all run in yours? Yep. Re: Time for a trans rebuild?

I'd do a very thorough cleaning of the case, all the while looking for pieces of metal.... If nothing beyond dust is found, then I'd give the case a good flushing/rinsing out with diesel fuel, put it all back together and run it. When comparing the NP435 to modern day transmissions, it is a BEAST. I...

Re: Need opinions on bench seat design

Hi Matt, I assume the blue and white are both a vinyl type of material? Of the two choices, I prefer Option #2. However, I would suggest you consider changing the white portion of the seat to a cloth material and make it a houndstooth or check type of blue/white plaid. Like this: https://www.fabric....

Thanks, Paul and Brian, for your experience and knowledge! I was only wondering because I am looking at a job in Peublo, Colorado. If I get the Pueblo job, I'd likely be taking my 390-powered Slick there. Thus, I was wondering just how much change to it's current performance as I would be leaving th...

So, I guess that would mean that I should expect fuel mileage to drop off a tad if I was not to monkey with the 'sea level' tune, correct?

As a side note in considering altitude - what does a fella have to do to his tunup settings if traveling from say, 600ft to 4700ft elevation?

Looking good! .... the pine you've used will be a bit softer than the oak so it will mark easier if you throw things on it , but should last longer being pressure treated anyway.
