Re: FE in a ‘63-‘64 former 292 truck
The short answer is you're not likely to find something that will just be a bolt in swap. I think '65-? 4x4 used a similar arrangement. Something did, pretty uncommon but I'm not sure what right now. Anyway, easy to look at the current mounting arrangement and compare it to the potential donor. I'm ...

Re: 292 Harmonic Balancer
Brand new or rebuilt is what you want. If you get used or NOS, plan to send it out for a rebuild. There are usually 2 brands listed on ebay which are a direct replacement, Powerbond, which is a slightly more modern styled billet damper and another from Mexico which looks more stock but does not have...

You're probably missing the bronze bushings, too.
I had that exact same thing happen. The bushings were missing so the steel wore through and split just like that.

Re: What would you do?
It is evident that this has become a tool that politicians use to try to get their way. It's going to happen again and again, probably getting worse and worse until we the people wake up. I do my job for money. If the money stops flowing, I'm out. I don't think that should matter whether it's a priv...

Re: Haven't seen any Slicks at local yards in a while
I've noticed that as well. Even stuff from the 1980s is not as common.
I imagine, too, that those types of yards have the business part figured out and unfortunately for us, old stuff just isn't as profitable as newer stuff, when most people are trying to keep something newer on the road.

Re: Used ignition switch bezel
I know what you mean. I did that with something last week. Funny thing is, the first box I looked at, knowing generally what was in it, I thought "nah, it's not in there." After three hours of looking everywhere that seemed logical, I looked in that box, and there it was. This week I'm get...

Re: Narragansett wiring harnesses
It's probably incomplete info to you. If a will was involved or nothing was put in place to handle what happens if the owner dies, then I can see how that may cause something like that. In that case, saying that the business must shut down if the owner dies is the simple explanation, rather than the...

Re: Ignition switch
For follow-up, I installed the 3 spade terminal switch and it's working well. I did discover that the repro switch bezels seem to be junk. They look great but cause the lock cylinder to bind. The bezel that has been in the truck since I've had it appears to be some early '60s car bezel. It looks lik...

Re: gear ratio for easier highway speed
Hard to suggest anything if you don't know what you have. It would also be helpful to know your current RPM at 55-60. A lot of people say their truck is "screaming" and what they really need is mufflers, not a different ratio. That might not be your case, but impossible to say without the ...

Re: Ignition switch
Got the NOS switches today. The one with the extra terminal came in worn Napa Echlin box with part number KS 6523. That part number appears to be good still and the product image actually shows a Made in USA switch but at a price of $16.99, I wonder if it really is. Great price, if it is. The correc...

Re: Speedway Disc Conversion
A 15 x 6 wheel I have, which does work with discs, is 14 1/2" diameter where the caliper would be. That measurement is taken about 1" from where the wheel contacts the hub and remains about the same to the outside of the wheel. Within that 1", it does taper smaller. Compare this to yo...

Re: Ignition switch
I looked at the parts of my original and the 3 terminals and stud do appear to function in the same way. I checked that extra terminal on the replacement with an ohm meter and cannot tell what it actually does, infinite resistance no matter what I try. Maybe that particular part of the switch is def...

Re: Ignition switch
I have seen an NOS switch, made in USA, with that terminal so it was definitely on some. Mine's not missing. It was just never there.
As far as it being a ground like Duralast suggest, it does not have continuity with the metal housing or any of the other terminals in any switch position.

Ignition switch
My replacement switch is different than the one I removed, which has made in USA on it so possibly original. There is an extra spade connector which is on the outside but it doesn't seem to do anything in any position of the switch, no continuity with any of the other terminals or ground. There is a...

West, no. Near Waco, though, is www.eatonbalancing.com, possibly the top builder in the world for a Y-Block.
