Hello, Can you guys tell me what the difference is between the two below and which would be better for my 66? Is there a way to know if its still in good condition?

I bought the filter and pan gaskets yesterday and after removing the old ones it looked like they were all in real good condition still.

So I took my tranny off yesterday so I can see if anything needs replaced and to clean it and paint it. It is a C6 with a 460 and I haven't really messed with transmissions. What do I look for inside? What do you guys use to paint them?
