Re: 61-64 common questions and modifications
On a lowered truck, getting shocks that are right for your particular stance can be a challenge. There were two options for mine with stock mounts: too long, and too short. The problem is made worse by the double stem shocks that come on these trucks. I decided to change the equation by changing the...

Re: Straight Axle - Front Sway Bar - Another Option
Hate to point out the obvious. but the worry about a 5/8"(?) u-bolt leg seems a little . . . um . . . irrelevent when we are trusting athe sway bar to a 10"x3/8" end link bolt. No pun intended, but if there's a weak link, it will most always be the smallish diameter end link bolt, eve...

I've used EZ, Painless and an RPC Brand off ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/20-CIRCUIT-WIRING-HARNESS-UNIVERSAL-STREET-ROD-RAT-ROD-/380429938652?hash=item5893642fdc&item=380429938652&pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr I found virtually no difference in the quality of the harnes...

Re: OK OK what is the best way to lower a few inches? On my
I did the front and rear axle flip and got my 64 as low as feasible. Any lower and I'll have to cut the bed above the pumpkin. As mentioned, the axle flip pretty much requires c-notching the frame. It's really not that hard to do, though.

It's looking good. It never ceases to amaze me what a new set of nice wheels does to the appearance of almost any vehicle.

Pull-A-Part Score
So, I relocated my brake pedal and master cylinder, to the clutch side of the column and used a later model F100 pedal (the one that's about 4-5 inches long). It was still a little far from the gas pedal and the pedal ratio was a little off for good brake pedal feel. But it was OK. Here's how it loo...

Re: A chance to set LMC straight
I have used LMC for both Classic Chevy Trucks and now a Ford. Quality has been an issue, so they are a last resort for me. The Dennis Carpenter stuff is simply better quality, and I have had good lock with Mac's as well.

I had to look at it a second time. I was sure it had to be in Kentucky or Mississippi. But no . . . Florida. I cannot believe he's selling it. His friend, neighbors, and even stranger must stop and stare at it . . . kinda like staring at a bad traffic accident. Of course this one DOES look like a Ca...

I always pay someone to do it. It usually cost $50-$100 and it's cheaper than ruining a gasket (done it). They know all the tricks. Money WELL spent.

Haven't been working on it for a couple of weeks. Building this robot/sculpture for Vacation Bible School. We have ours during Spring Break. Lot of welding but this is the result. Now that it's done, I'm back on the yeller truck. http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa210/RamblinMan_album/2012-04-02_1...

Re: Uncle Murphy Came for a Visit
Lowell, I never got to the point of driving it. The exhaust manifold at the head was a good 100 degrees cooler at #7 than the others. The others ran 400+/- while #7 fan 250-300. I figured that was residual heat from the rest of manifold itself since I tested it at operating temp. It should be noted,...

Not going to believe this. I cannot believe this. I found it. I've been disassembling and throwing parts at this thing for a week. Been building engines and repairing cars of all makes and sizes, American, Foreign, Racing, you name it for nearly 30 years. Cannot count how many. A silly detail bit me...
