I liked the story.
Found it yesterday perusing the world wide web.
Didn't find it posted here anywhere but someone referred to the Slick 60's in the comment section.

Re: Disc brakes for Twin-I-Beam trucks
Hi Folks, I'm considering an upgrade to my '66 F-100, I'm looking to you guys to talk me out of it :) We just bought a '72 F-250 2WD with power disc brakes (2 pot calipers), 16" wheels, Dana 60 (open 3.54 ratio). I'm thinking of putting that whole setup under my '66 F-100. I think it will all ...

Re: More opinions needed
I agree with Ice as well. The stainless will tie in with your bumper and the brackets you're going to use. It will reflect a lot of the paint color and surroundings so it might blend better than being painted.

Re: What Battery Charger do you have?
I also have a couple of the CTEK chargers that have reconditioned a few batteries and kept some alive, like on the camp trailer when it's not in use. The "smart chargers" can pay for themselves pretty fast. I really like mine and all of the options available for them.

Re: makita vs milwaukee
I had Milwaukee 18V Ni-Cad tools in construction for many years and they were the toughest, longest lasting of all the brands I've tried. I started going through too many batteries though and $85 a piece was getting old. I still have several corded Milwaukee's but sold all the cordless ones in favor...

I will not be a customer either, but I'm sure if someone brought a slick crewcab to him along with a fat wallet, he would build one!

Re: Frame Rivets question?
Great information above, here is my experience: I've taken many rivets out over the years using many different methods. I usually end up having to use more than one way to complete the job. One way is to heat the rivet with a torch until glowing orange, then cut the rivet head off with the air chise...

'66 Engineering Drawings & More
Came across these drawings while searching the world wide web.
Neat to see.
Didn't have time to look at all of them but, I scrolled through a few pictures and found pics of slicks too.
Doh! My mistake, got in a hurry.

Re: Engine offset?
Yes, they are offset. The Ford 9" R&P where offset to allow equal length axles. As mentioned above, the engine offset allows room for the steering box. Just make sure your crankshaft and transmission output shaft are the same distance off centerline of the frame so they are parallel to your...

You're welcome. Where did you find that photo by the way? I've seen pics of it with that paint and # 803 but not that one.
Was going to add a couple more photos but not sure how, or if I can yet.

Here's a walk around video after restoration............up close. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWGoiY4wO0w I saw this truck for the first time at the 1988 Mint 400, then saw it again last year. I met the current owner in Holtville Calif. last year, he let me drool all over it. Well actually sweat...

Re: Fire?
They can be repainted. But, it all depends on how hot the parts got as to wether they will fit back up again. The fire will cause them to expand/stretch, cool/shrink and warp in different places. You might have to test fit them to find out.

Re: Power steering swap on a 65/66
Also, the Saginaw box interferes with the coil bucket/shock tower. Check for clearance before tightening up the 3 bolts. When I installed a box from a 1973 into my '66, I notched the rear inside corner and had to trim the fender well slightly. I have heard others grind off the power steering box wit...
