Hang in there guys!
I am working out a design that could be fit on any tailgate at least the stepsides for now. The challenge is getting a consistent top tube dimension. This was trial and error. I just load tested tonight at 200 LBS. YEA, thats right, I sat on it!

Hidden stepside tail gate cables
I am working on a 65 stepside. There are not straps or cables and the tailgate is useless because it would swing down and hit the exhaust tips. I did this last weekend and finished it last night. Retractable tailgate (coated) cables that are hidden in the top tube! See if this photo bucky thingy wor...

Picture problem
I know this is the wrong site. Does anyone have any issue uploading pictures? I am getting a quick screen of errors and the red x. I know how to size them and even deleted some but can not get any new ones up loaded.
Thank for any advice!

C4 is your best bet. The early C4's 67 vintage have a 24 spline input shaft. All later models have a 26 spline. This won't matter if you get one with the convertor otherwise you will need to count splines if you order a convertor. Driveshaft is measured center to center of each yoke. The machinest w...

Your truck came with a BW 3spd OD if it has a pull cable. When the handle is in the rear planatary gives you overdrive in any gear after you get over 30 MPH. When you pull the handle out makes it a 3spd manual only trans. Only operate the cable when the truck is still. See if you still have the kick...

Yes the brackets are the same. You can make a spacer so you could use the extra tab and give yourself another mounting point if you want to. I did go ahead and buy the 65-72 brackets to compare. The 65-72 brackets do not have the 3rd mount tab and have a cut out for the top grease cap otherwise they...

You can buy 65-72 brackets from abspowerbrakes that has a cut out for the top grease cap but I don't use the grease caps anymore with this setup. You can also use 57-64 brackets and cut the extra mount tab off as it is not needed or can be used if you want to. I am doing a book on this that gives de...

I went to Tractor Supply Co and it was as close to perfect as I could find. 48 wide 17 high and has a recessed area that slips under the front edge of the panel. Its just a box but looks great. SKU Number: 1099492 Tool Box; Chest Type; Brite-Tread Aluminum Material; Silver Color; All Truck Type DEE ...

Secure spare tire carrier
I added a link to the help section. I just got done fabbing up a spare tire carrier. It looks like it is on the bed floor but it is off the floor about an 1" give or take. Can be made for whatever height needed. Out for powder coat Monday.

Spare tire carrier for the bed
Because we tend to have a lot going on the underside with dual exhaust, roll pans, gas tanks and other obstructions under the bed I wanted to make a clean carrier that would secure the spare tire while keeping it off the floor. Although this is a step side it can be made for a ribbed floor as well. P...

Figure out where your engine makes the most torque by RPM with a local dyno which may cost 75-100 bucks. Once you know this information you can change the gear so you will run in the most efficient rpm range. Make sure your engine is properly tuned, tires have enough air and so on. No gimmick in the...
