Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

Well Merry Christmas to me....yesterday, my truck broke down on the local interstate. Had to have it towed home....finally. It's hard to find someone to tow a vehicle on Christmas eve. Anyway, the bracket that attaches to the frame that the clutch Z bar rotates on broke. I got on the interstate and...

Re: Hexenschuss

Merry Christmas, Doug! Man...that truck is a thing of beauty! Just going out to the garage to find that sitting out there would make every day "Christmas Day" lol.

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

Well....the '66 has what appears to be a seized engine. I used a huge breaker bar with my socket and the engine would not turn. The odometer was showing a little over 86,000 miles and I wonder if this is accurate. The truck has possibly been sitting for 30-40 years now. Anyway, waiting to see if I ...

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

My neighbor is a mechanic and we're planning to go take another look at the '66 that's close by sitting in the weeds. I want to take some sockets and check to see if the engine is seized. Will try to get more pics also. The owner is supposed to get out of prison next month and he is in his late 60'...

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

I got to drive my truck in the Christmas parade. The photographer for the city attends where I am a minister. We had our neighbor, who is a local school teacher for a private school, and her two sons ride in the back. We all had a blast! https://i.postimg.cc/rwx3qWVQ/Christmas-Parade-Dec-2021-2.jpg...

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

Still trying to run down the owner of the '66. He is in prison and is supposed to be released in January. I may be waiting awhile to get in touch with him....hoping that he is willing to sell the truck. He has a mid-60's Chevrolet truck sitting about 3/4 mile down the road in a field that is in ver...

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

True that! Slickitis is baaaad! I love those backup lights too....I was looking at the pics again and realized that the doors and bed do not have trim or trim holes. The hood does but almost all of the trim is missing. Interesting! The door handles have the "custom cab" chrome surrounds t...

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

Since you already have the shining example, wearing it's white sunday best. How about leaving the new one in his work clothes, straight from the fields. Yep....that is what I've been thinking. I still have to find the owner....who is supposedly in jail (or prison).....This truck has fantastic patina!

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

I had previously posted about a '66 F-100 just sitting behind what looks like an abandoned house just a few miles from my house. An older gentleman, who lives close by, said that the owner was in prison. He also thought that the owner would be released soon. The house is completely covered with vin...

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

Spent some time in the garage yesterday trying to figure out the wiring to the light switch on the truck. I thought that I had a wiring diagram for my '64 F-100, but it wasn't complete...or accurate. I don't understand why Ford decided to put the fuse panel as part of the light switch instead of ha...

Re: Steve's 64 Short-bed Project

Not much going on lately. I did get a tear/hole in one of my rear Monroe Max-Air shock absorbers. I had to order another set, which is being delivered today. In reality, it was my fault...(insert long story/explanation here). Anyway, make sure that there is nothing that will rub, lol. Some guy on o...

Re: BlackTruck Build 65

Big springs can be removed and installed with a piece of "swing-set" chain. Just take a length and hook the spring to one end and take a large screwdriver through the other end to pull the spring onto whatever place that you need it....

Nice! I wished that I had done the same with mine. I have the filler in the middle rear of the bed. I had a bed full of lumber a few years ago and was running low on gas.....(not good, lol.)
