Re: Southeastern Spring Meet (Charlotte auto fair)
i didn't get to get around as much as usual since i was swappin' out in the red field most of the 3 days i was there. bought some floors and cab mounts for the big window uni from carolina classics. didn't sell much so i came back several hundred dollars poorer. oh and got sunburn on top of a sunbur...

Re: Anyone seen or used this HEIDTS front suspension?
i can get the coilover jw rod garage kit billet shocks and all for about $1300 less. BUT it's a weld in kit. if you don't have the ability to weld it in it's gonna cost way more than $1300 to have that done. the porterbuilt bolt in isn't to far from that heidts kit price wise and if your goal is sla...

Re: Anyone seen or used this HEIDTS front suspension?
HEIDTS makes a very good product. if someone was willing to drop the cash when i worked at the Rod Shop HEIDTS was usually where i pushed them. JW Rod Garage if they didn't want to spend a bunch. i like the suggestion of IC dakota but last i heard steve isn't doing the kit for the twin i beam trucks...

Re: 64 f100 swb booster install
switching to a dual m/c would have been a better upgrade. why do so many people think adding a booster is so much nicer i personally like manual brakes. nice firm brake "feel". i feel the same way about power steering most times. i put power rack swaps in stuff for people before that drove...

Re: Need a Cal Slick inspector or a NC inspector
the second truck is in my area. i've seen it around here and there driving but never saw it parked where i could get a good look at it. i do inspections/buying/etc for people on the side. have for about 15 years. i can do a casual inspection up to put it on a lift and go all over it. casual i usuall...

Re: 1961 big window project
I'm in sw Missouri... going to check with a chrome place I heard about in a small town near by.. the truck has a polished grille on it but it has some bad areas .. just scored the jag front.. hope to do the front/ rear swap soon..going to try to get the jag hubs redrilled to a small ford pattern.. ...

Re: 1961 big window project
sounds like your flowing the same line as mine. i notched the jag crossmember 3" into the rails to get the ride height i wanted. flipped the explorer rear on top of the springs/2" blocks/pulled a coupla leaves. step notched the rear as with all of the above the the rear sat about half way ...

Re: exhaust tip opinions please
i like the look but agree it is going to act as a megaphone. one way to solve that is to run the pipes part way into the cavity and spray everything inside black to hide it. you could also use a metal mesh screen of sorts to hide everything within the cavity. many super cars do something similar. yo...

Re: clip opinions
junkyard, have you seen one of these trucks with jag in it in person? if not i be willing to bet you might be like me and move the jag up above the camaro. i agree the camaro is easy and it puts the truck low and give lots of advantage. possibly the one thing i like more on the camaro is the afterma...

Re: ANOTHER EXPLORER REAR END QUESTION
as said it is a touch on the narrow side but great if you want to run deeper wheels out back. another cool trick is the tubes are just spot slugged to the center chunk. you can drill those out and used a second "long side" tube and axle to make a wider and centered version. then you can pu...

Re: clip opinions
So if you had a s10 clip for free, would you make it work? I truely think bang for the buck would either be an jag clip or an aerostar clip. I know the dakota kit would be nice and ive even been on the phone with them but theres two things about it. One is cost and two is they have been in the work...

IC dakota if you got money. c4 corvette ain't bad either... porterbuilt if you've got way to much money. mustang II is ok. i've said it time and time again i get that stuff at dealer cost and my truck has...

Re: Whats a reasonable selling price on a Big Back window cl
i'm in hickory,nc. pretty much between charlotte and asheville. it'd be much easier and probably cheaper finding a person that does car hauling with bedspace in the truck. i've shipped rare glass. shipped out a rear window for a 63 vw notchback a coupla years ago since there was no frame work to sup...

Whats a reasonable selling price on a Big Back window clip?
a possible more solid body may have turned up in the area and i'm trying to figure if it's worth the trouble of getting it and dropping it on the frame i've already done the jag swap on. probably the most wanted part of the current 62 is the big back window clip. i don't care enough about BBW that i...

Re: 1962 Big Window Uni Build
yeah it can be tough for sure. my budget is a goal only. if i go over it so be it. being broke helps haha. trying to put a little money towards 2 projects at once doesn't help. The 67 vw squareback in the first pics background ate up a bunch of money last year and the year before. I got wide eyed af...
