Re: 390 Build
I made a little more progress this weekend on the 390. I got my flywheel, clutch and bellhousing put together without too much trouble. http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w495/coreypuchalski/F250/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-10/2CFDE71C-4D06-4EF0-BFA8-2FE9A2B7846F_zpsuqwborcu.jpg http://i1078.photobucket....

Re: 390 Build
Both had wires connected, so I assume that's the case, having never witnessed the light coming on that I recall.chris401 wrote:The flat spade connector sensor is for a light, the big round sender is for a gauge. I didn't know if the OEM oil/amp bezel gauge used the light also.

Re: 390 Build
I have not run one shelved that long but you should be fine. The C9 pump I was running came from a 71 390 and had a matching date code. Quencidence or original pump I can't say. They last a long time. If you change your mind there would be a small window for someone needing your NOS waterpump for t...

Re: Backup lights NP435
Hey Corey, haven't gotten out to my truck yet but just came across this on eBay... does this help? Let me know if you'd still like pics of my actual application, no problem, but this should give you the general idea of the vent cable mechanism at the kick panel. I'll probably be going out to where ...

Re: 390 Build
Good info. I just bought a new one when I went through my FE. I don't remember the exact price but I get a great discount at NAPA through my employer. Never thought about rebuilding it. Ok - here's a question for ya. I just bought a NOS water pump (and a car load of other old Ford stuff I don't nee...

Re: Backup lights NP435
Hey Corey... Thanks! It's a '66 tho... I did the red stripe in the side trim myself, just because I like that touch on the '64s too. One more way Ford was saving money in '65 & '66 by eliminating the red stripes in the side trim, along with discontinuing the cabled kick panel vents (personally ...

Re: Backup lights NP435
Really like your 64. I wish they had kept the red insert on the side mouldings as an option on later trucks.
I'm curious what you used for the cargo light on the back of your cab? Do you have it wired with your backup lights or with a switch?
Thanks,
Corey

Re: Backup lights NP435
Update - When I compared the newer shift cover to mine, I found out original '66 has a taller shift tower, which means my shift lever won't work. I heard back from the craigslist seller, and he has the matching shift lever. I'll make the swap some time this week. Just wanted to document the issue fo...

Re: Backup lights NP435
Thanks guys, I'll make sure to protect the circuit. I swapped in some LED lights on my existing tail lights and had to change the flasher in order to make them work. If I go with LED backup lights, they won't draw as much as filaments. I'm also doing a 3G alternator upgrade, so I'll be asking more q...

Backup lights NP435
I just bought a later model shift cover for my NP435 trans so the switch for the backup light is included. I also have a set of the bumpside tail light assemblies that include the backup lights. Do I simply need to run 12v to one leg of the switch and another wire to the backup lights from the other...

Nice job on the video, thanks for the thorough explanations. I'm staying tuned for what I hope is you next video on bed floor repair, my 66 has the same issue.
Really like the '66 Mustang in the background. Would love to find a fastback project around the same vintage.
Regards,
Corey

Re: 390 Build
Hey Chris, When I looked at the Felpro 1130 spec, I think it was exactly what you said, 19cc. The Silvolite 1131 piston, which has an 8cc dish volume would put me around 9.2:1 CR with the Felpro 8554PT gaskets, 72cc heads (most likely), .030 over bore and pistons .032 down the hole - that's right wh...

Re: my shipwrecked '63
Nice work! I've been guilty of grinding and spray painting with a cheap mask - we all need to be more careful with our lungs. My buddy who helps me with my truck had a double lung transplant a few years ago, and he says I should try to avoid it if I can. I looked at plans today for an air filtration...

Re: What are these?
They are door hinge cover plates and the access hole covers for your fender bolts.
I should have read your comment instead of posting what you already knew...
You should see rectangular holes in each kick panel above the vents and toward the door frame.

Re: 390 Build
Realize the compression ratio quoted for pistons is for a specific head volume, stroke and head gasket thickness. You really need to do the math to make sure you are really at the compression ratio you want. SPark Thanks Steve - I had a different calculator that I used a while back, but need to run...

Re: 390 Build
Ford made a similar dished piston that had a couple of ramps in it that swirled the air/fuel mixture. Unless that is a generic picture, the top of the piston looks too tall to be .030 below deck. Are you using C7AE-A, C8AE-H or D2TE-AA heads? There ports and chambers will give you good low to mid r...

390 Build
I just dropped my 390 motor off for a mild rebuild, RV cam, 4V intake and headers. I'm pretty pumped after talking to the gentleman who will be doing the work. He's got his own shop out in farm country and came with good recommendations locally. He'll be tearing it down and will let me know what he ...

Re: Bad day in kansas
Sorry to hear about the damage - hope everyone is ok.
I flew out of KC airport last night and it was one of the more memorable climb-outs that I can recall. Lots of white knuckled passengers and the reminder that bags were located in the seat back in front of you.
