Re: 65 F100 4x4 parts truck turns project
I used a slap dolly or hammer on and off dolly to finish the crease out. With this method I was able to get most of it out but unfortunately when the metal was creased it stretched it to. I come back to it later with and english wheel to try and shrink it back a little. In the night pic I can see wh...

Re: Looking for the impossible, a short styleside bed
Ya I'm looking for the 64-66 bed. I found a project for sale, pretty stripped, but has a workable bed I may have to buy it. & swap beds, then try to resell the project. Is that a good idea or should I just keep looking ? You said you would be willing to trade and add cash to get the bed you wan...

Re: 1964 Ford f100 Custom Cab Shortbox restore
Welcome from Washington state. My son has a lwb 64 F100 CC he is restoring. It has a 235 six with a limited slip rear end. He is going to keep the straight axle and maybe disc brake it. I have a 292 out of a 63 he may rebuild and up grade away from the 235. Good luck with your restore.

Re: 65 F100 4x4 parts truck turns project
Some more work welding up chrome trim holes and rear view mirror holes. Also worked some of the dents out of the passanger side front fender and started doing away with the hole in the side of the bed where someone had mounted some kind of antenna. Im suspecting probably from the CB radio days. http...

Re: What have you done to your slick today??
More welding side chrome strip holes on the passanger door closed. Welded up the holes that the previous factory rearview mirros left in the door and started to fill the hole in the bed side where someone had mounted what I presume to be a whip CB anntena. Pulled a dent in the front crown of the pas...

Re: Axle shock mount width.
Thanks for the measurements and pics on the '62. My axle brackets are about 32" center to center. The frame mounts are about 26" to the center of the shock eye and that seems to jive with LM's axle measurements. So it looks like I have a fun welding project coming up. Here's how it looks....

Re: Axle shock mount width.
They can't be the same. With the '68 axle that is in my truck, the axle end of the shock is closer to the outside of the truck which results in the upper end of the shock hitting the frame. It's significant enough that you can see it quite easily. I didnt say they are the same I said it was a guess...

Re: Axle shock mount width.
Frame widths are the same up until 1973. So Im assuming the spring perches and shock mounts should be just about the same. Just a guess on my part though.

Life happens enjoy those boys they are grown up and gone before you realize it. My 63 was still sitting there waiting for me over 20 years later. It was a little worse for wear but still there.

Re: 65 F100 4x4 parts truck turns project
I got the holes on the hood finished up with the copper behind the holes. Finished the door by pulling nails thru from the inside and holding the head up against the hole to tack the nail in place. Once nail was tacked in I cut the nail shaft off and welded the hole closed. It will probably need a l...
