She's now driving it daily. You should see the way it stands out in the high school parking lot. Her friends say her truck is "swag," whatever the heck that means.
I still have to get the tailgate finished and then install the tonneau cover.

Re: lowering my 65
I did a FRONT axle flip and 2" lowering springs as well. Got a little too low and brought it up 1" with an additional spring in the pack. The caveat on front axle flips is the steering. I went with No Limit's rack and pinion. The front required c-notching and I boxed it for extra strength ...

Re: FE Heads
Sully...I think the oil burning is due to the higher vacuum created by the fresh heads actually sucking the oil up past the rings, but I could be wrong. Unlike some others on this site, I make no claim to infallability. I just call 'em like I see 'em. Apologies to the starter of this thread, we kin...

Re: FE Heads
Fresh heads on an old assembly *can* cause blow-by because of the fact that you have eliminated someplace (leaky old heads) for compression leak-down to go, so it goes into the crankcase. Extra crankcase pressure can cause oil to blow past rings on cylinders that are NOT on the compression stroke ca...

Re: lowering my 65
Axle flip REQUIRES frame notch. Also, if your springs are a little flat, your diff will hit the floor over bumps. I used add-a-leaf after flipping to gain 1.5 inches back. Here's the stance:

Re: Sully's 1964 Project
Drives great. No Limit states that any pump will work. NO. The Ford pump (small neck 60's and 70's pump) blew out the outer seals in 5 minutes. The Ford pump apparently puts out more pressure than the Delco/Saginaw pumps. I solved it with an adjustable valve and had to replace the rack. No Limit is ...

Re: Sully's 1964 Project
OK. I did a lot of work over the last few days. Most noticable (to me anyway) was moving the front axle forward 1.5" while installing the No-Limit R&P kit. Here's the front axle after moving it forward. http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa210/RamblinMan_album/1964%20F100/2012-05-20_18-24-5...

Re: Electric fan install
Running the Taurus fan. It draws a LOT of amps at startup (70 or so) and levels out between 25-35 amps on high speed. I have run this kind of fan on numerous applications and simply wire it on high speed. The pull on my alternator actually pulls the idle down. On my AMC, I burned off a belt running ...

Re: The AMAZING Offshore Tool Discussion
I have a Chicago Pneumatic air ratchet that I bought off the Matco truck back in '86. Never once had to repair it, and I rarely remember to even oil it. I have a mid-90's 1/2" twin-hammer impact that is Craftsman that has worked just as well. The Craftsman stuff in the last decade has become no...

Re: The AMAZING Offshore Tool Discussion
One thing to watch out for in their socket sets, especially the metrics, they will leave out sizes that are fairly common on American cars. But as for quality, most sockets and wrenches from most manufacturers are now made offshore, so you really aren't compromising anything with HF sockets.

Re: The AMAZING Offshore Tool Discussion
At least Harbor Freight takes back problem tools with no questions asked if you have the receipt. A friend of mine runs a metal fab shop and a Makita 4.5" Grinder cost about $100 while Harbor Freight gets $9.99 for theirs. The Makita wil last 10-12 months with the heavy usage they have. The HF ...

The AMAZING Offshore Tool Discussion
Ok, this discussion is for the purpose of discussing successes and failures using offshore tools. Let's NOT get into the philosophical "US Jobs and chinese products discussion." I have had a wide range of experience with cheapo tools from success to EPIC failure. I happen to have a Harbor...
