At this point in their lives, many of the guages in older vehicles have lost their calibration. As long as you know where your individual vehicle runs, its rather immaterial where the needle is, so long as you are watching it for movement. If you really hate where that needle is, you can try a new s...

The self adjusters may not have had time to adjust would be my first thought. Adjust by backing the truck up and hitting the brakes firmly and repeat. You should notice them evening out then try it out. Also after a day I always bleed the lines again for that little bit of air that may have been mi...

Really like the wheels. Did something similar on my brake light switch, but I like how you drill a second hole to keep the bracket from moving at all. Nice. The second anchor hole is a nice touch. Looks like a sucess. Hope that missing nut does not jamb up the steering someday (doubtful)!

Ya got me confused... Manhattan is west from Kansas City..... Are you 100 miles east of Manhattan? Prolly you meant you were about 100 miles west of KC..... In any case, not likely to get to drive to the Little Apple any time soon, but I was there once upon a time...... Got a huniting licence for KS...

Well, you are right, I could find no other way to get it in. I *think* you might be able to do it, but you would need one, or perhaps 2 assistants. You would have to take it appart, so that the shift arms are out. Then you could slide it in from above. And then, pray to god you can figure out how to...

Well, these can be h@ll.... There are some circuits that remain hot, even with the switch off, and off the top of my head, I cannot remember which ones they are. That would be where your money is, I 'd guess. Now, if you plan to get rid of that wiring harness anyhow, eventually, my advice would be t...

Idle at 1500? Too high. That could be part of the problem. Are you needing to set the idle that high or it dies? Rebuilding an 1100 carb never was very easy for me either. I finally ended up getting one from Ponycarbs that ran well. But none of them ran as well as my Carter YFs. But with the loadoma...

Yes, the bit about allignment has always worried me as well. If the top and bottom bushings are not reamed true, then the KP will not like going in and I can only imagine that the longevity of the bushings would be less. My reamer seems shorter than the ebay pictureed reamers, but, yes, it appears t...

IIFC, I used a tiny little bit of weatherstipping glue. Just enough to hold it at those points where its doing an inside curve and refused to stay put.... But the tape idea sounds better and less messy.... Once its been in there for a year or two, it gets stiffer and stay in place when you take the ...

Oh, and if you are interested, I would loan you the reamer. I'd want a paypal deposit on it, which I would refund when it came back. Offer is good only to members who I recognise their login. I think jhewitt, I have even sold you some part once, but maybe I am getting forgetfull. Anyhow... Just FYI...

My reamer for 65 does not look much like those in the pictures, who knows. Maybe my father did not purchase a Ford reamer. Anyhow, mine has .861 stamped on it, if that any help. I will say -- before you go to the trouble of installing new bushings and reaming them -- put the hubs on there and use th...

Lower shock mount bracket for 65-66 radius arm needed....

Changed my oil today. Noted that the driver side lower shock mount is busted. This attaches via a couple bolts to the radius arm, and looks to be different on driver versus passenger sides. Luckily, there must be quite a few of these out there, and maybe even can be purchased? Anyone know where? Got...

You cannot check the throttle plate position with the carb on the truck. You have to check it from below. How did you set the idle screw? IIRC, the instructions are to screw the idle screw all the way in and then back it out 2 turns. Better verify that I am correct on that be. If that is not set cor...

what's wrong with some grease? grease protects from rust. My dad, whom I very much admire, never worried about a greasy engine unless it lost so much oil that he had to add. In my youthful hubris, I decided I wanted a "clean" engine on one of the cars I was driving. So I degreased and clea...

Sounds like you have decent vacuum at idle. But even a small leak may be causeing the engine to run really lean at idle. That extra air getting in causes a "lean" (too little gas) condition. But your original observations of it running OK with the vacuum advance disconnected and then runni...

I knew I had seen a good write up on this. Keith over at fordification (67-72 trucks) had it and I found it again just now.. http://www.fordification.com/tech/hubcapID.htm I tell you, if you have a 65-66, you want to go over there for some reading as well, as tons of things are the same for 65-72 tr...

Some 66 got the "outie style" hubcaps. Some still got the earlier innie. CC got the nicer ones. The later rims that you are getting will work fine with the 66 outie style caps.

Someone can correct, but I think the outie style was the same as Falcon? I could be totally wrong there....

after you paint get an OPTIMAX battery and never worry about corrosion again. The same is true of silicone brake fluid. Yeah, I agree.... Run your torch tip around the area where you see the hand by the studs. That is the area where the hub face contacts the drum. This is the area that is most likley rusted together. Hold the torch between the studs trying to keep as much heat off of the hub snout that protrudes thru the drum face. Y...
