dog on the side of my truck
hey guys its shaun again
my truck has this dog with a bone in its mouth on the rear quarter panels underneathe the dog is (oil?) and that is it. some guy down at the track told me it was a foctory deacal and not to paint over it. my truck is a 64 shortwide and it has fiberglass front end chrome steel wheels i got it that way. it has 65 mustang seats in it when i got it but i put a factory bench in it. i dont know the guy that gad it before me said it had a 429 that was cracked in half in it when he bought it . the vin show it was a 6cyl truck it has no options no power brakes or steering and all roll upwindows it has aluminum doors too and a plastic rear window. can anybody help me identify this truck. im hoping that it is some kind of factory drag truck or a truck that was built by a factory sponsored team or dealership. help me out guys

If it starts to rain, they'll tax the splash.
If you want to fish, they'll tax the bass.
If you plant a yard, they'll tax the grass.
If you don't play nice, they'll fine your *$#!

Thats the start of the six digit DSO numbers.............Not the RPMS >>>>>
It has no letter for the engine as it left the production floor sans engine and transmission bellhousing crossmember.
I have some close ups of the riviting for the bell mount. It was never installed as the rivits are hammered flat in only a two layer sammich in stead of three for the frame crossmember and rear leaf spring mount.
Was just looking at the pics i took last night of the unveiling at waynes house.

the f-100 xl is a unibody!!!!!!!! why would they put that motor in a unibody.
my truck however is not a unibody. so i dont think that it is a dearborn steel tubing truck maybe just a drag druck some guy built and had some sponsor that used a dog with a bone. my dog is not the one on the f-100 xl
mine is like a beagle and has a smaller bone with no words on it. the dog looks happier too. ill haveto just post pics

If your truck was a Dearborn Steel Tubing prepared truck it would be worth quite a bit of scratch, shaun. But I don't think it would have a fiberglass front end either. I thought I heard that this co. prepared the racing Thunderbolts too, perhaps I am out to lunch like the RPMS
It's most likely it's someone's attempt at a copy. Were the bucket seats stock? I remember you saying it had track bar radius rods, made out of steering rods,, were they put in from the back like the XL or the more conventional way now in FRONT of the axle? Does it have a iron plate gas tank behind the axle? or a in-cab tank? Does it have the front axle blocks like the XL? How about the battery location?
If it DID turn out to be authentic (Dearborn Steel Tubing is supposedly still in business so you could probably confirm that BTW) you would have to sell your house, your mother and your girlfriend to get a 427 8V side oiler to put in it to make it stock again. But , it would have the value to justify that.
Like I say, I am from Missouri on it being a real DST truck, but I suppose there is an outside chance.

It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..

We need pictures!
Pretty cool to think that the infamous F100XL was made in Mahwah! I lived there before I moved to Hamburg! I drove past the site of the old plant every day. They have since torn it down and put up another building. Sharp is there now. Unfortunatly Ford is in pretty deep from their dumping habits back in the late 60's and early 70's. Go to this site for more info, www.toxiclegacy.com/. Interesting stuff. Here is a site Ford made to document the clean up, http://www.ringwoodsiteupdate.com/.

I wish I would have hung on to my tri-power, I could have gotten the linkages & fuel logs I needed from them.
