Tailights interchange?

Post by Leeroy »

Have a '62 f100 with a '65-'66 type styleside bed. Both taillight lenses and housings are shot. Someone suggested to me that the '67 type housing and lense would fit.
I don't have any 67 type housings to check, can anyone verify if they will fit?

they changed in 73 so they wont fit. they were a all in one tail light and housing. the lens was glued to the palstic housing. and the bulb sockets came out of the back of the housing with a twist and pull.

yep, and if you can find some 67-72 buckets you can wire for backup lights too.

if doing back ups, on 3 speed just add the plug down by the bottom where your shifter arms are , 4 speed granny on top of transmission I think and cannot swear might be a place for a back up switch and automatics wire it up like the 67-72 trucks are and all by using 67-72 buckets but also remember to run another wire to your tail light buckets at bottom for back up lights

NP 435 is in the same place.

you can swap out the 65/66 top cover for a later one 67 up with the switch.

Not that it is important to the question but just to be correct and prevent misinformation from spreading, the 73 tail lights are different because they are bigger but they are not a one piece glued together unit. The 73 is just like the earlier ones with a metal backing and a removable lens held on with screws. Ford did go to a one piece glued assembly on dents in 74. Hawkrod

Where's a good aftermarket place to buy the 67 bucket assembly?
LMC truck doesn't have it listed in the catalog. It would be nice to have back up lights for a T5 in the future.

The 67-72 trucks, 69-74 van, and 66-77 Broncos all used the same taillights. Ford is famous for recycling such parts. The 59-64 truck front turn signals were also used as turn signals on 69-74 vans. The 57-63 round truck taillights are the same as the 61-67 vans (except the extended Supervans which used the 64-66 lights).
