welcome from fla. the folks here are very friendly to us newbies. thanks! nice bench seat. the first thing my wife said when i showed here my 63 step was " It's got bucket seats!" and not in a nice way... run it and enjoy it.

My main reason for sanding the dash (and the rest of the interior soon) is to get rid of the red paint that is flaking off everywhere. I'm not sure what I'm going to do color-wise yet. Sometimes I think it would be cool to re-do the green, other days I think red would be the way to go. Will probably be a while before I can even think of color. I'm just trying to get some stuff done while I raise money to address some noisey lifters.

It will definately be a DIY paint job. I have been looking into brushing and rattle can paint jobs and have seen good results with both. Just something I can drive and enjoy.

Cool, I was wondering if you were going to do that. I've considered doing the same to my door panels. The passenger one is pretty beat up on the inside. I've seen some great results, in pictures, from rolling rustoleum. I'm curious to see how it turns of for you if you go that route.

Well it looks like it's been 2 years since this post was started and was curious how the Slick is coming along. I have recently become the proud owner of a former Air Force version of your Slick actually this will be the second time I have owned it. When it was first aquire it had the 240 3 on the tree setup which was removed by the previous owner. Since I plan on using it to pull a vintage travel trailer I'm going the 351W AOD route. Can't wait to get to work on it but have to get the 66 Mustang I'm in the process of restoring out of the garage but fear not my Slick is resting comfortably inside a storage unit. When I pull it out I'll get some pictures and get them posted. Funny the first new vehicle I remember my dad buying and me and my brothers riding home in the bed of was a 1963 F100 with a 292 and 3 speed with OD. Made many trips from California to Provence Town Mass. Never forget the smells of the old Slick 50+ years ago.....

Well after I got the interior all done I drove it for a few months and ended up selling it after discovering 70's custom vans. Got that out of my system so I sold that to buy the Slick I'm working on now.
Gonna hold on to this one.

If possible can you post a picture from under the steps on the flareside. I'm interested in seeeing the support that attaches to the frame from the step. Mine did not survive the body shop

There is not one that attaches to the frame, at least not on my 64. There is an L or hooked shaped bracket of heavy gauge sheet metal that attaches to the front of the bed. This is what the step is bolted to on the front. The rear of the step, is bolted to the fender.
