Anyone seen or used this HEIDTS front suspension?

Post by droptf100 »

Heidts Heavy Duty bolt in front suspension for the 65-72 F100's? Just ran across it on the internet. "Heavy Duty" leads me to believe they might be better suited for the weight of our trucks? I'm new to the site by the way. Great site, lot of cool trucks, people and info.

They make good stuff, I used their kit on an old non Ford a while ago and was impressed with the fit and overall quality. Agree the price can be an issue, but you pay for the engineering and testing....it is pretty foolproof.

Before I did that, I would do the Industrial Chassis Dakota kit again.

HEIDTS makes a very good product.

if someone was willing to drop the cash when i worked at the Rod Shop HEIDTS was usually where i pushed them. JW Rod Garage if they didn't want to spend a bunch.

i like the suggestion of IC dakota but last i heard steve isn't doing the kit for the twin i beam trucks right now...

According to his facebook posts, he's creating one for the 65/66 right now. :)

I've never installed a heidts kit (or any other). Can they be installed so when bagged the truck lays frame? I imagine u can set it where it needs to be to accomplish the desired drop?

The kit I installed was designed for a specific drop......to lay the frame on the ground is way beyond where most will want it, and probably not real DOT approved so you are probably on your own to do that.....

I agree that's a lot of money but I'm not sure it's fair to compare pricing on that to other 'standard' MII type offerings. This has coil overs, billet shocks, 11" rotors with 4-piston calipers....... not to mention the bolt in aspect. If someone doesn't have the capabilities to weld a CM in themselves, how much does it cost to hire a shop for that work?

I wasn't directing my comment to any one specific post - it just seemed to me like the general tone of the thread was that it is overpriced. Sorry if I took it wrong......

i can get the coilover jw rod garage kit billet shocks and all for about $1300 less. BUT it's a weld in kit. if you don't have the ability to weld it in it's gonna cost way more than $1300 to have that done.

the porterbuilt bolt in isn't to far from that heidts kit price wise and if your goal is slammed the porterbuilt guys focus themselves way more in that direction than heidts.

i think steve has had the IC I beam version in process for a while now. calling him would be the best way to find out where he's at with that project.

i think i pretty much lined up 1 maybe 2 more slicks to do jag suspension in today. 1 bagged 1 static.

I think "HEAVY DUTY" makes people believe its built better but it is still a mustang 2 type setup with Granada rotors and better calipers. Not knocking the product as I use a similar setup I am just saying that heavy duty is misleading imho
