Source for front clip fender nuts and bolts

Post by 624WD »

Well, It was a mess removing the bolts for the front clip. I ended up grinding, drilling and hammering off the hard to reach bolts that were either way too rusted or, had to grind down the square nuts that hold the inner fender inside the cab pillars. I had to cut into the fender to reach those square nuts that kept spinning.

I need to find a source for fender bolts, and the square nuts with inserts that hold the square nuts.

Any ideas where I can locate these?

Thanks.

If you are talking about the clipped in nuts that go on the fenders where they bolt to the cab, I just got some from my local Car Quest.... They had a display of Au-ve-co body hardware...Part numberAP5711 is 5/16-18 x 1 body bolts and AP10053 and AP 8814 are 5/16 -18 extruded U nuts that should work.

Guys, Those Auveco fasteners are the hot ticket to assemble the front clip
on our trucks, and they make it a lot easier if you have to remove a part at a
later date. Not sure how may of them it takes to put the front clip together,
but compared to the factory set up it is a whole lot easier. Too bad the Ford
factory didn't have these available back in the day. Those encapsulated nuts, age
and rust don't play well together. TR

What was the original setup? Our project already had those fasteners in the fenders.. Lots of missing hardware that is being replaced with plain nuts and bolts with washers for now where it is accessible, but I can't see any other way to bolt the fenders..

Don't forget about this post from Max in Hints and tips. :) I got these when I rebuilt the CrewCab, came in handy but used just about everyone that I ordered. So much easier than trying to save the old ones.

I ordered B , D , E from the picture (link above). also I found a different length (overall length) for E and ordered them also. :)

Where are you getting them from and what price are you paying?? THe local CARQUEST wants a fortune for the two and three packs, works out to over $2 per bolt in some cases by the time you pay tax.

Just received my care package from UHaul: (20) of the OEM screws listed as "B" in Max's pic. In the original Ford boxes, $13.44 shipped! eBay seller, Uhaultech. Their auction descriptions leave something to be desired, but usually includes the Ford part numbers.

Probably would have helped if I had used the sellers eBay name.
