New Member...HELLO!

Post by mtb2liv »

I am new here and wanted to introduce myself (I'm sorry if this is not the correct place or method).

I am the proud new owner of a '66 F100 (Base Cab Longbed) with a 240 I6 mated to a T18 4spd.

Sadly, it has suffered a very poor paint job (the Caribbean Turquoise was rattled canned semi-gloss black), the body work has been neglected/ignored, not to mention the interior and engine bay have essentially been stripped of most of the trim and small parts.

Good news is, the cab is completely sound without any rust (the bed and bottom of each door is a diff. story). I offered the PO 30% of his asking price and he accepted.

I hope to replace body panels as I can afford to do so, retain the original motor (refurb/rebuild) and restore the interior so it's nice enough to take my lady for rides and not have her smell of gasoline once she gets out. Disc brake upgrade and suspension tweaking is on the radar as well.

I have LOTS of plans and will look to the expert owners in this community for advice, tips and guidance as this is not just my first Slick, it's also my first project truck.

I am excited to be on the road to bringing this truck back to some degree of glory and will share the journey as I progress.

Thanks for accepting my request to join and let the fun begin!

Sounds like a great truck to start with, I hope you can keep the enthusiasm up and get a lot done soon.. Nothing beats starting with a solid cab !

Welcome from California
Looks like you have a good start.
Lots of help around here. Starting a build thread so you can post progress will really help you along the way. It forces you to take a lot of pics, and documents all the work youve done.

Sounds like a great project.

You have found the right place on the internet. That's for sure.

Do you have some pictures?

Thanks for the welcome(s), everyone; clearly this is the place.

I have posted some pictures in my Gallery Album (I don't have online photo storage) and will start a build thread once I get more traction and photos.

Got the truck home after purchase and went for a ride.
Image

Engine runs but poorly; getting on that first.
Image

Interior in ok shape but will also need some attention.
Image

Bed is pretty banged up and floor has rust perforation; needs to be replaced.
Image

....and it begins.
Image

First up, replace cracked exhaust manifold.
Image

I'll start a build/progress thread and post pics and notes as I go; I look forward to feedback and tips.
