'65-'66 Disc brake conversion on eBay

Post by goldenage »

Hey all,

Noticed this on eBay this morning- a company called Scarebird is selling a new disc brake conversion bracket/rotor/caliper setup for the '65-'66s. Haven't had experience with this company, but thought to pass it along for those that might be interested. I'm assuming that you'd also need a new master cylinder, proportioning valve, etc. etc.

Great company.
I used them on a falcon that I owned.

What you are doing is buying brackets that mount to your original spindles. Not sure what they're called on slicks..
You then go to your local auto part store and buy off the shelf part to convert to discs.

My falcon used Nissan stanza rotors, gm calipers and Cadillac brake hoses.. simple bolt disc brakes. Requires a master cylinder change too.

I doubt the offer a 65-66 4*4 kit

there is nothing for the 4x4s other than the later open knuckle d44 front end which is obviously swapping the entire axle.

My :2cents: , I believe they might have a good product,, Not for me ,, BUT I guess they don't know that you can get any 73/79 F-100/150 front end and use all that instead of that other brands that are mismatching parts with other car mfg's. which still is a better idea using Ford's set up,, also I would use the later I-Beams since they have the notches in them to use the Original Ford Set up for Front Sway Bar's

Tom, that is why I still have those brackets, I bought them from a crowd over here just before I found Slicks 60`s and the better way of doing things! :)

They know, Tom, just like their Falcon/Comet conversions, they appeal to the guy who wants an easy solution without searching for the factory interchanges. With my memory, I am beginning to record all my "hybrid" conversions and the original applications for each!

Paul,

I did the scarebird conversion because at the time it was the only four lug disc brake option available.
As I upgraded brakes after I spent big money on wheels and tires.
But hey thanks for calling me lazy because I used non ford parts on my falcon.
