D1500 rotors / stock ford rims

Post by mercman64 »

Can't get the wheels on the Dodge rotors.....I need a inside / outside caliper to measure the exact amount of interfereance ....but the opening in the wheel will NOT go over the centering hub on the rotor.....is this common ? .....it's close....but .....ideas ?

guessing you installed a dakota kit

dunno about the new stuff but about 25 years ago i had a dodge van, got a flat and the wheel would not come off.
drove up and down the dirt road with no lug nuts then jacked it up again and took many whacks with a sledgehammer to get it off.
thats when i noticed it was a ford wheel.
guessing again the rotor hubs on dodge have not changed in the years.

Ford had a big center hole starting in the mid 70's & a small center hole on the older cars.

I have a Dakota clip with d1500 rotors an running stock outies. I had my rotors turned down to fit the wheel.Took the rotors and wheel to machine shop. Cost was maybe 25 per rotor

Gotcha, when you say outies......are they stock looking wheels that let you run the dog dish hubcaps ?

Not to butt in, but "outies" are the wheels with the knobs on the outside of the center ring (66 and later trucks), it's the "innies" that the dog dish caps fit. Little nubs on the inside to hold the caps.
If you understand what you’re doing, you’re not learning anything.

this is the best thing i ever saw to describe innies and outies, thanks to Keith at Fordification, gem of a guy
http://www.fordification.com/tech/hubcapID.htm
--->scroll to the bottom of the page. There are bottle cap hubcaps that fit both innies and outies, but now you know what they are.
It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..
