Need seat upholstery information .

Post by 64 f100 »

Just bought a 66 f100 in Clinton Iowa'. with no seat. NO problem as I have these coming out of ears. Did a search and nothing turned up on the slicks here. This, I know is wrong, as I've seen seats discussed several times here. I'm looking for information on what most of you did when doing a stock seat , and I am wanting to know if, the 67 and up seat upholstery will fit our seats. I like the look much better. However, I wouldn't mind having the seat I have in blue redone with that funny plastic mesh material that came on these trucks. Just don't know where I can get it made or remade. I know it's been mentioned that someone does the embossing on the vinyl and does seats. Just hoping someone remembers and knows who it is and what kind of price.
Thanks in advance,
Rich

here's mine. wasn't cheap OR fast, but original. Just the materials. You'll still have to find a good local upholstorer.

I appreciate all the help from all of you that have replied. Sad part of all this, is that a couple years ago, these covers were selling for half what the price is now on Evillebay . I have bucket seats and I'm tempted to go that route. Color comes fairly close to light blue but somewhat off, and are out of a Mercury mountaineer. Just don't think these are right for this truck. I also have some Mustang buckets and brackets to mount these, but not certain a close enough color match is available on the upholstery. Thinking I want a bench seat.

SMS in Canby Oregon are good to work with. I got original color (they dyed it and it was a great match) and covered a set of 65 Bronco seats. They look almost the same as Mustang or the original Ranger buckets that came from the factory. I also used the fabric to cover the dash.

My customer service exp with SMS was terrible. This WAS a few years ago and I hope it has changed but be aware. They were quick to charge my card and it took numerous phone calls and about 3 to 4 months to recv the product. Was shortchanged fabric as well. On the plus side they did have the OEM original fabric. My advice is stick with a reputable local shop. Trust me if I were to do it again thats what I would have done. Every time I set on the SMS seat I cringe thinking about how expensive it was. Lesson learned.

I bought a seat cover from Mac's and it fit good but was not original style but was reasonably priced and I put it on myself and it looks OK for a driver. Tom

I have a bench of 70's or so F100 vintage in my 66 and bought a nice cover from Stock interiors. Fit nicely and looks good. Price was reasonable. I also used them for my carpet. Again fit nicely and looks good. JMHO!
