width of Crown Vic front end?

Post by Truckfarmer2 »

What is the width of the 03-10 Crown Vic IFS? Am thinking the 9" rearend from the 1980-83 F100 (light duty) that came with the 4 1/2" bolt pattern would be a good match to these IFS. These rearends measure about 66" wide. Even if you can't find one of the light duty trucks, 1980-86 F150's would be the same width, just need to redrill the bolt pattern to match the front.

They are a good fit to matchup with the CV front. And are more plentiful that you might think. Has the 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern.

X2! If you can stand the width, using the standard offset wheel front and rear will give nearly the same track, ( which is pretty wide!). "Big and littles" help IMO, but unless utilizing the CV offset on the rear, you are limited to about an 8 inch wheel. Using a front wheel with "standard" offset is not the best solution for bearings and steering geometry, but does not seem to be a significant problem.
