Chris i have the top type but sure seems like th elaternator will be hitting the head. I take it the slotted aluminum spacer does bewteen the alternator and block.

Thanks for the pics

LM 14...thats perfect. Im going to make sure im good but looks like i have the same alternator and set up. As you can see i have a slight 'off' at the belt. Hasnt bothered anything but want to do it right.

Seems the spacer for my coil is what is for my alternator.

You have the longer type of top bracket. Just seems so close to the head if mine moved back anymore

ITS VERY CLOSE TO THE HEAD BUT I CUT A PIECE OF A OLD ANTIFREEZE JUG AND PUT IT BETWEEN THE HEAD AND ELECTRICAL ON THE BACK OF THE ALTERNATOR GAVE ME A LITTLE PIECE OF MIND FROM SHORTING OUT...

yeah im sure it is...thats why i was sorta looking at the low mount style but didnt feel like spending the money. i had an alt about a month ago when dealing with this that was touching the head and it went out quick. Thats why im trying to do this the right way now and not deal witht hat again. It doesnt sqeal or anything the way i have it but i sure like to have all the right parts on this since ive done everything else right.

Ford used a rubber boot on the battery connection to the back of the alternator.

What is going on here? As you can see the alternator would be hitting the head when its sutnred up to the adjusting arm. Do i have the wrong water pump or alternator for these brackets? I also dont see how the alternator and the alimnum spacer is even close. I have one thing that wrong here.

Looks like wrong alternator. On the alternator the boss the big bolt goes through should be 3" and the spacer 1 5/16". Measuring the alternator face to stud should be about 4 1/4". The alternator on my truck now is 4 5/16" and the factory boot fits with room to spare.
