In-cab sending unit

Post by 69supercj »

Got the tank pulled and I'll flush it out today but was wondering about the sending unit. I noticed while looking through the catalogs that the new units have a straight rod whereas mine has a slight bend upwards down on the float end. My gauge reads 1/4 when in fact the tank is empty so do I need to straighten the rod or give it more bend upwards? Also, I need to replace the cowl to hood seal and I couldn't find anything in the catalogs for this. Is this item obsolete and not being repopped?

Dennis Carpenter sells the seal. you probably need to replace the sending unit. hook up the wires, and watch the gauge through range of motion, out of the tank, to tell if it works correctly

Are the DC sending units good, I understand they are China made.

DC units are good. Just installed one (my float sank). Rod should be straight. FWIW!
