Post by SLICKCOLLECTOR »

Did ford make a factory ford f250 4x4 in 1964? what kind of bed did it have? wrong bed? slick bed? is the wheel base the same as a 2wd. i think i read someone quoting that the wheelbase is different. is that correct. thanks.

Yes. The '64 factory 4x4s were available in both long wrong-bed and long flareside. They had the same, slightly shorter wheelbase of the earlier long wheelbase trucks.

wb is 120"
all the f250 4x4s up until 66 used either the wrong or flareside bed,the f100 4x4s until 65.
66 f100 4x4s were the same wb as the 2wd and used the later (64-66) styleside bed as well as the flareside
the 66 f100 4x4s came in both long and shortbed

so will a 2wd bed from a 65 or 66 fit the 64 f250 4x4? 120 inch wheelbase on the 64 4x4 versus 131 inch WB on the 65/66. will the wheelwells match the wheels or do you have to shift the bed or redrill the frame. all i have is a few longbeds and a shortbed stepside and a short fleetside. are wrongbeds designed for the 120 inch WB? if one of those will fit a 64 f250 4x4 i may try to trade and/or purchase it. thanks.

Jim
first off 65-66 lwb are 129"
the bed will not fit a 64 f250 4x4 without either moving the rear axle back or cutting\modifying the bed
the long wrongbed from a 2wd will bolt right up and be factory correct for 4x4

thought of this the other day

the 4x4 frame is flat, the 2wd curves over the rear axle so when installing the 2wd wrongbed or flareside on a 4x4 you need to change the wooden blocks in the bed supports so the bottom is flat and all the supports are the same height.
