Question on Radio Noise

Post by hombre292 »

Hello,

I have a 1964 F100 with an AM radio that WORKS. However, when the radio is playing, it makes a whining/static sound. This happens even with the engine turned OFF.

I can barely hear one or two AM stations. The question: how can I get rid of this noise? Can anyone out there help me? Thanks.

Besides capacitor problems, there is an adjustment for tuning on older radios that you can adjust with a screwdriver. This allows you to tune in the radio. Never checked on our radios. However, late in the slicks years, radios were changed and transistorized models were introduced, which I believe worked better.
