To Reomve or not to Remove? the door skin...that is my quest

Post by 624WD »

I am thinking about removing and then reinstalling the door skins to install sound deadener in my doors (like the Astronaut did on his build). Is there a tool that will help with this? Or, is it best to drill out the spot welds and pry the skins from the door?

Or, better yet, can I spray a product such as Lizard Skin sound deadener inside the door through the removable door panel (after I remove the window assemblies?) - and save myself time from removing the skins. ???

This is not a concourse resto but a good solid truck resto to be used as a daily driver.

Thoughts? advice? beer?

Thank you in advance

Tom

use the edit function

i would not remove the door skins , theres lots of room to spray with the panel out and the door off to be able to flip around as needed

X2. That is a lot of effort to get sound deadening in.

I agree... Spraying the insulation and sound deadener will work just fine. Case closed. Thanks. Tom

Remove door skins? Not unless your a masochist, and haven't beaten yourself lately.

It might hurt so good. Maybe it would be best to have a 9" rear end drop on my toes before I do that. :)
