Found an old plow truck...

Post by ThinLizzy13 »

Not that I have the time, space, money, approval of wife, etc; I'm contemplating dragging this old plow truck I found nearby out of the weeds. I'm gunna go check it out in the next week or so. Its a 62 4x4 with a 223. The guy said he thinks it still runs. I really like the older 4x4's and wouldn't mind having one. I think needing a plowtruck is a justifiable enough reason to save it lol.
The guy also has all sorts of old Iron parked away in the woods. He owns some sort of Ford speed parts shop in the Penn Yann area of NY. I'll see if I can get some pics of whatever slicks he has hidden away.

My slick is an old plow truck & Rangoon Red also. Came with the plow, part of my justification was telling my wife I could plow the drive with a heated cab rather than my cabless tractor. I kinda lied about that (plow promptly came off and now resides in the barn). Truck was very rusty for obvious reasons but I never regretted buying it even though I had to replace just about all sheet metal on the bottom of the cab. Really like driving a slick 4x4 with manual everything it's quite the vintage experience lol it runs and drives like a really fast tractor, and a slick 4x4 is rather rare around here (Iowa).

If you don't mind lotsa metal work go for it. Pics of your rebuild would be great btw :)

Good luck.
Scott.

Looks like it may have had a cab/dog house replacement from a larger truck as it has the larger truck front valence under the grill.

Slick 4x4 - I'm not sure what he's asking. I got in contact with him over a year ago when I was looking for an engine for my 66. He said the one in this truck worked. I just recently got back into contact with him and he said I could come out and look at what he's got in the woods. Slicks aren't too common in this area, especially a 4x4 one. I haven't asked him what he'd want for it yet. Hopefully not too much lol

Square edge above the gutter rail, center of roof indented too.

Finally got a chance to go look at this (will post pics tm. It was in a large collection. This guy never scrapped anything! Stuff from 30's-70's). Anyway this truck has 3 on the tree with 4x4 5 lug wheels. Was 3 speed with 4x4 a factory option? I thought 4x4 only came with 4 speeds...
