Exhaust Manifold Bolts

Post by F164 »

Is anyone using stainless studs or bolts?

I hate to have a set of nice painted manifolds with rusty hardware.

I read that some use stainless studs with brass washers and nuts.

many good reasons to use stainless hardware. sooo much easier if you ever need to remove the manifolds, and they do look better. tsc has a good selection, at least in our local store.

Make sure you use Anti-seize compound any time you use stainless steel or any time you use disimiliar metals together.
If you continue to buy imports, where will your children work?

Anytime I install exhaust manifold bolts I use anti-seize . I once read where someone used something else that supposedly was used in boilers. I'm thinking it was milk of magnesia, but not positive on that.
