Why can't you get new bearings and races? Hammer out the old race press the new one in and be done with new bearings in it.

If you're sticking with the drum breaks, someone here ought to have a spare hub from a disk conversion. Or maybe this should be the motivation o upgrade the system?

well where you put the bearings in it is wollered out and the race does not fit tight, the race spins in the hub with the bearing, ive got a old f100 straight axle im gonna see if it will work..

They list a different disc brake kit for a '61-64 straight axle truck than they do a 65 and later. I think the spindles are different.

Correction, just read Tom's post above and may be off a year on the kit breaks.

I think they are different.

LOCTITE makes a product to to use in the bearing races to tighten them up

HERE IS What I would use on races,, take a center punch in a few places, then mix a little JB Weld put little on the race then install the race and let dry,, Both my races on my 56 with disc rear I had to do this and that has been 20+years ago

Tom, I'm hoping you mean "take a center punch to the spindle at bearing race location". I suspect Joey would need a surface upset about the size of the Grand Canyon if he has my luck!
