Were back up, lights even a option on our trucks
Just got finished installing the neutral safety switch and back up lights on my 66 and it got me wondering if they were ever a option, they were optional on the cars but never seen any on a 61-66 truck.
Re: Were back up, lights even a option on our trucks
Cam's (Chris's) truck had 'em. Chris might comment as to whether the harness looked original. I am aware that some of the commercial slicks had them. I was contracted to install backup alarms, and the backup lamps and wiring was already present on the trucks, making my job much easier.

Non of mine had them but it is resonable some could have been ordered or installed at dealer. What do your lamps look like?slick4x4 wrote:I have a truck that has a set

I would like to know how some of you wired up a backup switch on a 3speed manual tranny?

Contact microswitch clamped to the lower column contacting the low/reverse lever when in reverse.

you can get the top plate (4 speeds) from a 67-later truck.
not sure if the later 3 speeds used a column activated or side of trans switch.

I have not put the lights in but I am going to use a setup like I saw on a 63 fairlane. I have the switch, just need to make the bracket.
