The place to talk Slicks. All we ask is that discussion has something to do with slicks...

This will be hard ? after 47 years still being used

Post by 6166 Junkyard Dog »

I have found something on my 2008 F-650 that has been being used going back to the 61/66 trucks and maybe further but I don't have anything to look at,, I noticed this when I had a problem, went to Ford. mechanic showed me what was wrong, got a new part and when I was working on this I noticed it,, anybody with a Idea ? hint it has something to with that if this fails it will scare you to pull to side of the road and call for a wrecker, I was not concerned since I have a back up , I just cannot believe Ford is still using this after 47 years and maybe beyond since 2008 is the newest I have here,, any :?: 's

I would have expected the part in question to be solid state, now. Same part number? The oldest current part number I can find is B9, so it goes back at least that far, and I seem to remember it on the '57's. I think they superceded the original part somewhere around 1966, IIRC. There are aftermarket electronic ones; they work well; I have no idea if they last longer than the originals.

if the breaker pops the power quits.

a lot of good answers here. I'm thinking Henry Ford would have changed even less if he would make money. :burp:

Live from Tonapah AZ,, tomrooster is very close,, anyway on the F-650 what happened the oil sending in it went bad so showed no oil pressure, but the sending unit was bad showing oil seepage and when pulling the sending unit plug there it was the same color code wire white wire with red tracer same as the slicks so I can now say I have a little slick in the big truck
