Alternator wiring with EZ wire kit question

Post by rderr »

After struggling mightily I think I have figured out the alternator/voltage regulator wiring for my 66 with ammeter. My question is whether anyone has had any issue with using the 10ga alternator power wire to one side of the ammeter and then connecting the other side of the ammeter to the + side of the solenoid. The original wires I took out of the ammeter were much heavier than the 10ga that comes with the EZ kit. Is there a risk of frying the thinner wires? Seems like a lot of current could be drawn to charge the battery. I have not connected a battery and started the truck yet.
Thanks,
Rick
