best thread on Peanut butter jar to non power dual outlet ?

Post by foodstick »

I can't find the info and I know its out there. I was thinking you can use a 67 F 250 master, or a 68 Mustang?

Was talking to someone that was thinking of doing it, and I couldn't find a great thread on which parts to use for easiest non power upgrade.

opinion:
its a truck so use one from a truck
i have a f250 4x4, so i used one from a 4 wheel drum non power 4x4 ford truck.

fact:
i have no clue as to the actual difference in bore sise between the mustang, truck or any other car of that era.
also dont know off hand the wheel
can look this up somewhere and find out.

advice:
brakes are very important and need to be correct and work properly.
i think the mc from a truck would be more matched to the trucks wheel cylinders than one from a car.

Most that I have read used a Mustang 68-70 MC. Be sure to match drum/drum or disc/drum so the internal residual valves are compatible.

There were a lot of links to these once but most now link to a dead web site.

Stay with a MC bore of 15/16 to 1-1/16 and you should be OK. Proportioning valve from a Truck would work best. I have seen some using the setup out of a Dakota on the Dakota swap kits.

I recommended

1. 67 Ford F 250 Master cylinder drum/drum
2. new brake lines
3. new brake wheel cylinders
4. shorten brake pedal pushrod
5. new shoes, and wheel hardware
6. Electronic switch for lights mounted under dash

Depending on the individual application, you may see the need for a proportioning valve. Personally, I would rather install one from the start than find I needed to re-plumb. I have found that using one from a later truck of similar GVW works well as opposed to an after-market application. The OEM combo valves incorporate a bunch of useful facets in one usually inexpensive unit. :2cents:

Some use a Maverick mc.

Generally, the 4x4 wheel cylinders were larger than the 4x2 wheels cylinders.

67 was a 1 year only mc.

I would use a 68-72 mc. Similar size and weight trucks as ours.
