Correct kingpin Reamer?

I read a lot after searching but still did not find what the actual size of reamer I need. I'd like to go ahead and buy one but can't seem to find the correct size. Heck, I even saw a few at a swap meet for $20 with the sizes stamped on them but the seller didn't know what they fit. So, what is the correct size reamer for 1964 f100 2wd?

I think the best method is to fit them right to your new kingpins. When I had my 64 front end apart the shop fit the bushings to the pins so cheap it was crazy... Its been quite a few years though...

If, I'm not mistaken the reamer you need fits most Fords , but I will try and get you the size off my reamer if I can find the size on it. Otherwise, you can measure your new king pins and have a good idea what size you need. I seem to remember it as being .81 something, but my mind is not what it used to be. Suffer from CRS syndrome.

When my mechanic friend and I replaced my kingpins we used a cylinder shaped reamer that he had in his tool box. The reamer was approximately 1/4" smaller than the I.D. of the new brass bushings. He put the reamer in the chuck of his cordless drill and removed the material in a circular motion. He slowly shaped the bushings and test fit the kingpin often. He stopped when the kingpins would pass through the bushings with a bit of pressure. He then used a three stone wheel cylinder hone (also in the cordless drill) to smooth the inside of the bushings out.

This was the only time that I have ever been involved with kingpin replacement but he has done this many times in the past. Not sure if this is the only way to do the job or the information you were looking for. If I were looking to purchase a reamer I would get one a bit smaller than the I.D. of the bushings (O.D. of the kingpin). Seems to me that you may not be able to insert the exact size cylinder reamer into the bushings? Hope this helps but, like I said it was my first time.

I looked at the box today. If I remember right it said .861

There's still a family run parts store / machine shop near me. They can press in the bushings and fit the pins.

Just revisiting this thread as I am about to undertake new king pins on a '63. The box of new king pins I got from Dennis Carpenter said 57-64 on them I believe. Anyway, I got out my crude slide rule caliper and measured around 27/32 which is .8437. I don't have a reemer either, but the local Napa/auto shop in Wildwood is said to do the job. I need to clean up the axle first before I get this done but at least I know what needs to be done. No need to buy a reemer if someone else can do it for cheap and I may never replace a kingpin on this truck again.
