Cab bolts

Post by cnb »

Just want to know what size bolt head and nuts are for the cab support and core support bolts are. Going to the junkyard to get a cab and front end. Also any suggestions on how to loosen remove bolts quickly and easily? I'm hoping it won't take too long to get them separated, don't want to spend too much time there as my time will be limited. Thanks and any info is appreciated

You will have to remove the gas tank to get the rear bolts out 9/16 or 1/2 on the tank bolts. I believe 5/8 is the head size or 11/16. I also agree with the above statement this is not a quick job under normal circumstances. Hopefully you have already scoped out the cab you want and the front end is off.

fastest way is a torch .....

Would be faster to take the cab and entire front clip. Unbolt the front clip from the cab and take it home intact.

You won't get a core support out quickly even if it has all new hardware on it. Lot of pieces bolt to that and half the bolts are somewhat hidden. Plan the better part of the day for your project.

battery sawsall, couple batterys
milwaukee makes a blade called the torch its wide and has tougher teeth
cut and load, buy new bolts for installation.

Steve is right 2 things to load, disassemble the clip at home its tedious work youll want breaks and beers

never thought of that but it might almost be faster to just make a V cut in the frame under the bolt.

the fender bolts accessed from the kickpanels like to spin the nut or strip so if you can get them loose enough to get a blade between cut them too.

i parted out a lot of trucks im not opposed to cutting anything, bolts, rubbers, frame whatever makes it go faster.

have to weigh benefit vs what your cutting some parts like bolts and rubber can be replaced. if you cut tin is what your getting of greater value than what your cutting
example very nice straight chrome grille, but fenders and core are toast, cut the grille out quickly or fight bolts on junk
pass the saw.

I've used the torch blades for t least the last 4 or 5 years. All I buy anymore. Cut a few race cars in half with them way faster than any other blade we ever used. Buy the biggest bulk pack thy sell, well worth the money and cheaper the more you buy.
